HONORABLE SENEN O. ANGELESVice GovernorSangguniang PanlalawiganProvince of Zamboanga del NorteDipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte
Dear Vice Governor Angeles:
We wish to respectfully furnish you a copy of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 143-2015 entitled RESOLUTION STRONGLY OPPOSING THE PRIVATIZATION OF THE AGUS-PULANGUI HYDROELECTRIC POWER COMPLEXES AND SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF THE MINDANAO POWER CORPORATION (MINPOCOR).
The Agus-Pulangui Hydroelectric Power Complexes (APHC) are Mindanaos largest power asset supplying more than 50% of the regions power supply. The important role it plays in the energy sector is vital, APHC being the cheapest source of electricity compared to all the power plants in the entire country.
This being so, we cannot afford to convey our prized possession to private entities and bear the consequence of a significantly higher electricity rate should APHCs privatization push through.
Serious efforts initiated by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has led to the proposed creation of the Mindanao Power Corporation (MINPOCOR) as an option against the mandate to sell NAPOCOR assets to private entities.
We appeal for your generous and immediate consideration of and/or support to the attached Resolution. Specifically, we would like to request your Sangguniang Panlalawigan to pass a similar Resolution opposing the privatization of the APHC and supporting the MINPOCOR bills for Mindanao to continue enjoying reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy for all.
Thank you very much and God Bless!
Very truly yours,
JOEY G. PELAEZVice Governor

HONORABLE LESTER S. SINSUATVice GovernorSangguniang PanlalawiganProvince of MaguindanaoBuluan, Maguindanao
