MINORITY CELL REPORT 2013-18
The minority cell in MES Asmabi College,P.Vemballur was formed in
2013with the purpose of empowering the minority communities in the
college.The minority cell basically helps minority students including
Christian,muslim etcfor their academic development.The cell is formed with the
objectives of encouraging minority students including Christian,muslim etc for
their academic development.The cell is formed with the objectives of
encouraging minority students to enrol for career orientation programmes which
would empower them and equip them with the necessary skills to choose a
career option.It also facilitates financial support to students from minority
communities from government agencies and other sources.
2013-14
The first meeting of the minority cell was held on 5th
july 2013.The students
were given an awareness regarding the aims of the cell.They were also
familiarised with the different financial assistance programmes available to
them.a help dewsk was arranged in the college for assisting the students to
apply for the scholarships online.
2014-15
A discussion was held on the topic Problems faced by the minority students in
our country.Smt.reena Mohamed was the moderator.Students actively
participated in the discussion.They spoke about the insecurity feeling
experienced by the minority communities in the country.The moderator
remarked that interfaith dialogues may help to bridge the gap between the
different communities.
The minority cell hosted a career guidance programme organised by the State
Minority Welfare Department.
2015-16
The Minority Cell conducted English Grammar classes for the students who
scored low marks in English.Awareness classes were conducted to familiarise
with the different financial assistance programmes available to them.
2016-17
Meetings were held and students were given chance to voice their grievances.

2017-18
To enhance the skill acquisition of students and to equip them to earn an income
training was given to selected students who were interested in making jute
bags.The training programme was a success and the students organised the sale
of bags.Another session was conducted to give training in the making of bags
from used clothes.
2018-19
Pre-Marital Counseling Inauguration
MES Asmabi College got the privilege to organize the district wise inaugural
function of pre- marital counseling center in association with Minority Welfare
Directorate, Trivandrum. Premarital Cousellling for minorities is a new Scheme
by Minority Welfare Department and MES Asmabi College got the opportunity
to work as one of the centers of the same. The inaugural function was conducted
on 7th
September 2018. MES Asmabi College principal Dr. Ajims P.
Mohammed welcomed the guest and other dignitaries. Sri E.T Taison Master
graced the occasion as the chief guest while Dr.A.B Moideenkutty, (Director
Minority welfare directorate), Jab K.M Abdul Salam (Secretary and
Correspondent MES Asmabi College) has presided over the function. While
delivering the presidential address Dr.A.B Moideenkutty pointed out the
importance of premarital counseling for the upcoming generation. Dr.K.K
Sulaika (Principal CCMY), Noushad Bakhavi , and Adv.Huck felicitated the
function and finally the vote of thanks was rendered by Sajna A ( Pre- Marital
Counseling convener, MES Asmabi College).

First batch of Pre- Marital Counseling
First batch of pre- marital counseling began on 7th September 2018. The ice
breaking session which began at 10.a.m was led by Nizam which extended up to
1.p.m. second session started at 2p.m by Dr. Hamsa with the topic ‘why
marriage?’. Second day of this batch was on the next day 8th
September and the
forenoon session was handled by Mr. Abdul Rahiman on the topic ‘Husband
Wife Relationship’ . Afternoon session was led by Adv. Huck on the topic
‘Budget’. Each of them handled their sessions for three hours. Third day of the
first batch was on 15th September and the classes began on 9.30 a.m to 12.30 pm
with the topic legal aspects of marriage by Adv. Illah. In the afternoon
Mohammed Rafi began his session at 1.30 p.m which lasted up to 4.30 p.m on
the topic ‘Parenting’. The last day was held on 16th September. At 9.30 a.m
Aparna led the class with the topic ‘Sexuality in marriage’ till 1.pm. And the
last session was handled by Adv. Huck with the topic ‘In- law Relationship’
from 2.p.m to 5p.m.
