Minor Polymer Product Engineer Do you enjoy designing and building things? Do you want to enhance your skills with modern 3D CAD tools? Do you want to become an expert in the design of polymer products? Do you also have good constructive insights? Then choose the minor Polymer Product Engineer. In this minor you will learn how to make drawings in accordance with modern drafting standards; you will learn the basic principles of electronics and you will work on the construction and detailing of polymer products. Future opportunities You might start your career in the domain of product design, detailling and optimization. This would give you a good basis for a position in a technical development department. Later on, you could perhaps specialize further in the field of polymer technologies, as a product developer, a project manager or as a production planner. Examples of companies you could work for are Philips, Wavin, Schoeller Arca and Pezy Development. Entry requirements To take this minor you need to have successfully completed the foundation year (propedeuse) in Industrial Product Design or Mechanical Engineering. Minor Polymer Product Engineer

Do you enjoy designing and building things? Do you want to enhance your skills with modern 3D CAD tools? Do you want to become an expert in the design of polymer products? Do you also have good constructive insights? Then choose the minor Polymer Product Engineer.

In this minor you will learn how to make drawings in accordance with modern drafting standards; you willlearn the basic principles of electronics and you will work on the construction and detailing of polymerproducts.

Future opportunities You might start your career in the domain of product design, detailling and optimization. This would give you a good basis for a position in a technical development department. Later on, you could perhaps specialize further in the fi eld of polymer technologies, as a product developer, a project manager or as a production planner. Examples of companies you could work for are Philips, Wavin, Schoeller Arca and Pezy Development.

Entry requirements To take this minor you need to have successfully completed the foundation year (propedeuse) in Industrial Product Design or Mechanical Engineering.

CAD / Moldflow This module reinforces and enhances the skills you learned in other CAD courses. You will learn to make technical drawings that satisfy contemporary standards. After the CAD module, your calculation skills will be put to the test in actual commissions in Moldflow, when you can showcase all your skills for industry and commerce. 4 EC

Polymer processing (VK) Injection molding, blow molding, extrusion: how do they all work? You will learn the basic principles of these production techniques during practical sessions at other Universities of Applied Science at home and abroad. 5 EC

Optimizing injection molding (PEM)With the help of Tachucci methods and Design of Experiment you will learn to recognize and set up the most important parameters of plastic injection moulding machines and extruders. 3 EC

Polymer Engineering (POLO, POLL, POLC) To complement your existing knowledge of polymers, this module adds an extra dimension in the form of “state of the art” technology. This is the core module of this minor. You will learn the rules that govern constructing in polymer. Important is the prediction of the product lifetime related to wallthickness and permissible strain. You will also learn about the dimensioning, calculation and optimization of snap-connections, ribs and other product details. 5 EC

Polymer Materials Science (MKK)In this course you will learn about the material properties of polymers as well as all the influences these experience. This way you are able to match polymers and applications. 3 EC

Technical English (TENPO)This module focuses on your practical knowledge of Technical English. You will also do the groundwork for your graduation paper. 1EC

Overall Project (OP) 2 EC

Research Techniques (OT) 3 EC

Environmental Engineering (ENV) This course practices the application of techniques for sustainable design, such as the LEDS-wheel and the ECO-indicator. 2 EC

Cross-departmental subjects are also available: IntroductionProgramme, Dutch Language, Dutch Society, InterculturalAwareness (total 14 EC).
