The University of Minnesota is a great value, offering the competitive tuition rates of a public university. Students have access to the vast resources of a world-class research university and a large metropolitan area.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Global Excellence Scholarships (GES) are competitive, merit-based scholarships that are awarded to international freshmen or transfer students for up to four years. The awards equaled $9,600 or $4,800 in 2016-2017.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) Scholarships are awarded to high-achieving students with an interest in research. Recipients participate in faculty-sponsored research for one year, and they received approximately $1,400 in 2016-2017.

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic merit, and diversity. In 2016-2017, the awards ranged from $1,000 to $5,000 per year, for up to four years.

TRANSFER STUDENTSThe University of Minnesota welcomes undergraduate transfer students who have completed one to two years of coursework at another postsecondary institution after graduating from high school. The priority transfer deadline for most programs is March 1 for fall semester and October 1 for spring. Check the website for the most up-to-date information on deadlines and the application process.

AP and IB CREDITSStudents in IB programs receive eight semester credits for most higher-level subjects passed with a grade of five or higher. AP scores of three or higher may be able to earn credits at the University of Minnesota.
