THIRD DRAFT JULY 29, 2013 HBC Mission Statement: “Making a difference for Jesus Christ, in our church, in
our community, and in our world – one life at a time” The successful candidate of this position is to be a person who has a heart for God, His people and the community. This person will join the Senior Pastor, church leadership (both paid and unpaid staff), and church family in seeking to fulfill God's missions and visions of Hillsborough Baptist Church Inc. The candidate will also build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. As well, this person will oversee all aspects of the next generation (ages 0-25).
Qualifications/ Experience
• Have a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ • Meet the character qualities outlined in the following scriptures:�1 Timothy 3:1-7,
Titus 1: 5-9, 1 Peter 5 • Ordained or in process of ordination meeting the educational requirements in the
Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches Regulations Concerning the Ministry - http://baptist-‐atlantic.ca/wp-‐content/uploads/2012/02/Regulations_2009.pdf
• Have prior work history in Youth Ministry • Have a commitment to team approach ministry • Have the ability to effectively communicate • Have an evangelistic heart • Have an understanding and appreciation for Natural Church Development by
Christian Schwarz. HBC is engaged in the NCD process. Key Objective Behaviors
• Leadership – Seek God's purposes to lead direct and prioritize relevant ministries for young people.
• Recruit, lead and empower volunteers • Supervision – Provide supervision, encouragement and direction for the volunteer
team and any paid staff in the area of children or youth. • Compliance – Support High quality programs • Personal Development – Prioritize and maintain personal, professional and
spiritual development, including engaging a personal mentor(s)
Responsibilities/Expectations�
• To lead in the development, implementation, evaluation and oversee children, youth and young adults with the Senior Pastor and Church Leadership
• To be accountable to the Senior Pastor • To embrace associational and convention sponsored youth programs, events and
mission activities as schedule allows • To ensure youth leaders and volunteers are in compliance with the church child
protection policy • To help connect high school graduates with a local church in the city where they
will be attending university/college, etc • To attend all CE meetings • To be at Deacons meetings on occasion or when asked • To have a written report completed to submit for the Annual Meeting and a verbal
report for the Quarterly Meetings. • To effectively communicate with parents and build bridges with local schools • To encourage youth to participate in other church programs, ex. Youth Choir,
Sunday School, VBS, Missions • To be accredited with Southeast Health Care (for Hospital Visitation) • To serve on committees as required or needed to ensure that youth interests are
integrated in the life of the church. • To comply with the directives of the Finance Board relating to the Christian
