AWARDS AND SEMINARS
I n today's fast changing world, it is often said that intelligence is increasingly becoming
a commodity and the ability to learn and relearn is coveted. Nothing is constant except change itself. With our program, the learning emphasis and the delivery pedagogy are not only on knowledge enhancement but also on imbibing and internalizing certain qualities, traits and attitudes. It has yielded talent that is worthy of leading the Indian and Global Power industries in the years to come. Power industry is the backbone of all the industrial and developmental activities of any country, specifically a country like India, which is still in the developing stage. Since Independence progress in power sector has been rapid. From mere 1713 MW of installed capacity in 1950 the capacity at the end of March 2019 rose to 3,56,100 MW including Thermal, Nuclear, Hydro & Renewable energy. With more and more capacity additions there has been increase in the unit size, main stream parameters, Transmission & distribution voltage, etc. This all called for sophistication of all equipments and their better and more reliable control to a greater extent. It has also become necessary to adopt the modern operation and maintenance techniques in Generation, Transmission & Distribution to achieve better efficiency in all these aspects. These all require technical expertise behind the machines. The formal education attained by the diploma and engineering graduates needs to be supplemented with the power industry oriented specialized skills to cater to the need of the groomed manpower for this industry. By conducting B.Tech in Power Engineering and Post Diploma courses in Thermal Power Plant Engineering, NPTI(ER), Durgapur has already been supplementing the needs of the industry.
Message Fromthe Director

KAMAL NASIR DEPUTY DIRECTOR &
PLACEMENT INCHARGE
I
Why NPTIANS ?The last half of the twentieth century has seen the wonders of specialization in any field
man has trodden upon and with the demand of market for smarter personnel growing at an exponentially humongous rate, the doors for hybrid streams which were deserted few years back have opened now. One of the most decorated hybrid streams is Power Engineering, which has evolved into a more strategic, proactive constituent of the integrated market which was held in abeyance before but today it cultivates and analyses the public opinion rather than just manipulating it.
With being incorporated with the traditional Five year plans of the Indian Government, the power sector has evolved and gone from strength to strength and it is not a hidden truth that NPTI has proven to be the solid backbone behind this rejuvenation. From providing a platform for the Nationalized Power Corporations to the Regional Power Establishments, NPTI (ER) has been actively involved in ensuring of the power sector in Eastern India.
And this demand has led NPTI to conceive the B. TECH in POWER ENGINEERING course, which being a tailor-made course, not only cater to the needs of the industry but shall also produce the leaders of tomorrow not only in power but also in the manufacturing sector.
And indeed, this eclecticism has prepared the students in a manner such that they genuinely believe that they have the required skill set which can transform them into the much needed leaders of tomorrow in this ever evolving and expanding power sector. Armed with a strong background in engineering subjects, they are loaded with logistics regarding industrial experience (they are specially trained at numerous power establishments across the country) and are made to work in different situations to be ready for any changes imbibed by the industrial sector. The state of the art facilities with indigenous CBT Packages have nurtured them to shed any reservations against critical analogies employed by the market, along with the industrial sector. Together with strong industrial interface providence, they have acclimatized into the working skills succinctly and the comparatively smaller teacher: student ratio has allowed more room for development and personal growth among the students under their wise guidance.
The forty four year legacy and the benefit of having their seniors placed in important organizations like VEDANTA RESOURCES, TATA POWER, ESSAR POWER, ADANI POWER, THERMAX BABCOCK & WILCOX LTD., to name a few have made the students hungry for opportunities to perform and this is without any doubt a positive trend. The fact that several companies have sent their Heads for strategic conferences to our Institution providing ample industrial and managerial exposure to the students, it is the right time for you to augment this rejuvenation in complete fulfillment of the requirements of yours and the entire industrial juggernaut.
MISSION Emerge as global leaders in enhancing human and organizational excellence in Power and Energy Sector by blending Frontier Technologies with Management, to facilitate HRD interventions that are instrumental in providing reliable, safe, economic and clean power.

Often touted as the Steel Capital of East India, Durgapur
is the embodiment of the quintessential town. With a
total population of less than half a million, Durgapur is in
the Burdwan District of West Bengal, on the bank of the
Damodar River. It is about 170 kms from the city of
Kolkata.
Being a major commercial hub, it is also India's second
planned and industrialised city after Chandigarh. The
third largest city of West Bengal in terms of area, this city
is situated on the banks of Damodar river, just before it
enters the alluvial plains of the state of Bengal. Durgapur
is one of the rare cities in India that happens to have an
Asian Highway passing just through its jurisdiction area.
Durgapur is the perfect amalgamation of a metro's
energy and a small town's charm. The place is brimming
with temples, old-world markets, parks and even a
barrage. Located in the heart of West Bengal, this
industrial town has more to offer than just authentic food
and a few tourist spots. Durgapur has the ICD which is
the only and only inland port which is functional in
Eastern India.
It has a huge base of industries with two key steel plants
Durgapur Steel Plant and Alloy Steel Plant with their
glowing township. City Centre is the nucleus of
Durgapur city's administration. Durgapur is already
growing for its medical facilities and educational
institutes. It has many famous schools, colleges and other
institutions. In the field of entertainment, it has many
entertainment centres richly known clubs’ wide range of
shopping malls and magnificent parks and picnic spots.
Durgapur takes pride in its cultural activities though
being a relatively coming up new city
