Ministry of Education & Higher Education Student Information Center Department Certificates Equivalency section وزارة اﻟﺘﻌﻠﻴﻢ و اﻟﺘﻌﻠﻴﻢ اﻟﻌﺎﻟﻲ إدارة ﻣﺮﻛﺰ ﻣﻌﻠﻮﻣﺎت اﻟﻄﻠﺒﺔ ﻗﺴﻢ ﺗﺼﺪﻳﻖ وﻣﻌﺎدﻟﺔ اﻟﺸﻬﺎدات اﻟﺪراﺳﻴﺔBasics and Criteria of School Certificate Equivalency in the State of Qatar General Criteria Academic Criteria • Certificates with casing made of irremov- able material will not be accepted. • Certificates with any scrapings or correc- tions will not be accepted. • Certificates, issued by non-accredited insti- tutions/entities and unauthorized to work in the issuing country will not be accepted. • Certified translation must be attached with certificates issued in languages other than Arabic or English. • e certificate must include: e student’s name (first name and surname at least, school name, school year, transcript, maxi- mum marks, and end of year student result. • Qatari students are not allowed to study outside the State of Qatar without prior permission from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Children of diplo- mats and Qataris who are assigned abroad are exempted. • Certificates received from the GCC coun- tries do not require any further attestations. It is sufficient to have the certificates attested by the educational directorate only. • Certificates received from non-GCC coun- tries must be fully attested (by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Consulate of the country issuing the school certificate + Qatar Embas- sy in the country issuing the certificate). • e results of Distance examinations or Open Education are not accepted. • Examinations of the embassies inside or outside the State of Qatar will not be accept- ed. • Students who fail to achieve a minimum of 50% of the maximum marks of each subject will not pass the school year. • e certificate a student obtains will be subject to an equivalency process, as such is determined by the number of school years s/he successfully completed according to the Qatari education system ( Qatari grading system). • For secondary school graduates, the total number of years successfully completed must be a minimum of 12 school years (except for the countries that have signed an agreement with the State of Qatar on this regard). • Student age is not taken into consideration when decision of equivalency is made. Whether or not a student is admitted in the grade level, this will be clearly indicated by the equivalency decision subject to the age of the student later, depending on the type of educational system s/he would be enrolled into.
