Baralaba CoalCockatoo Coal

Bowen Basin, Central Queensland

Sedgman Yeats assisted with planning for a staged

expansion of output from Baralaba mine and the client’s

nearby exploration grounds.

We provided engineering design and construction

documentation services for the haul road and waterway

crossing between the north and south pits. Our scope

included the civil design of the haul road, flood levee

bunds for the one in 1000 year storm event, and

pavement design. We were also responsible for planning

and obtaining the relevant approvals required by local

and state authorities for the waterway crossing.

We also provided planning and concept engineering

design for the off-site accommodation village which

services the mine.

Queensland Curtis LNG QGC (British Gas)

Gladstone, Central Queensland

This project will be the world’s first to turn coal seam

gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG). Sedgman Yeats

provided planning, transport, pipeline survey and

engineering design for the haul roads and construction

infrastructure area for this landmark project.

Our services included negotiation with statutory

authorities, traffic assessments, traffic management

plans and road designs. We also delivered camp

infrastructure design services including pipe laydown

areas, mine infrastructure area roads, services design

and workshop area designs.

Maules Creek Coal Whitehaven Coal / Aston Resources

Gunnedah Basin, New South Wales

The Maules Creek project, a large open cut mining

operation, is one of the largest coal deposits in Australia.

Sedgman Yeats provided design and early procurement

services for the 13 Mt/a coal handling and preparation

plant (CHPP).

The scope included detailed design of the mine

site earthworks, haul roads, light vehicle roads and

intersections. We also completed detailed design of

building pads, product coal stockpile pads, the run

of mine crushing pad including soil nail wall, reclaim

stacker berms, tailing cells, site stormwater management

and surface water drainage, coal contact ponds and

underground services.

Boggabri CoalIdemitsu (Boggabri Coal)

Gunnedah Basin, New South Wales

Boggabri Mine currently undertakes open cut coal mining

via hydraulic excavators in a strip mining configuration.

Sedgman Yeats provided detailed design services for the

mine site earthworks, haul roads and light vehicle roads

and intersections.

We were also responsible for the detailed civil design of

building pads, product coal stockpile pads, run of mine

crushing pad, train load out pad, conveyor tunnel, site

stormwater management and surface water drainage,
