What is minimalism
• Minimalism began during 50’s and 70’s. • Minimalist artist use simple geometric shapes
in repeated patterns to create art.• In minimalism the work is stripped down to its
mod fundamental form.

Social Influence
• Post WWII• Influenced by abstract expressionism.• Shakers • Influenced by constructivists– they used
geometric shapes in their art work • Also influenced by Duchamp.
