Important Event Information WOW events are primarily for ladies ages 16 and over looking to learn or improve upon various outdoor recreational skills in a safe, hands-on setting. This event is a smaller, modified version that will follow North Dakota Smart Restart as well as CDC guidelines. Under the ND Smart Restart guidelines and in partnership with local health officials, the following precautions will be put into place to support the health and safety of our park staff, instructors and participants.

• Registration will take place online via www.ticketleap.com; email confirmations are generated from Ticketleap (check all folders).

• Overall event was significantly reduced, reducing the number of people at the park for the event.

• Activities that were originally planned to take place indoors or required close proximity to others were taken out of the schedule in addition to food related activities and activities that required participants to share gear and/or materials.

• Participation within each activity is limited to 12-16 participants.

• All activities will be outdoors where proper distancing can be achieved; be prepared and pack according for changing weather.

• There will be no large group gatherings. As a result, email will be a critical part of the communication surrounding the event. Registered participants will need to reference email to find out the locations they need to be at for each activity as well as any last-minute updates.

• An option will be available for those interested to register for grab & go meal options, which will be handed out by catering staff from the main office area where one-way traffic will be established in and out of the building; local establishments can be found at the lake and in Bottineau, ND (14 miles SW of Lake Metigoshe State Park).

• Dorms will not be available; local lodging as well as camping opportunities onsite will be available. Additional info on next page.

• Ladies are allowed to bring and utilize their own gear and/or materials where possible. Such items include life jackets, field guides, bike helmets, yoga mats, binoculars, etc. Additional info within each of the activity descriptions.

We will miss gathering as a large group as this event is usually a great opportunity to meet outdoor enthusiasts from across the state. So many have formed lifelong friendships at Lake Metigoshe State Park and met other enthusiasts to meet separate from the event to further explore North Dakota's great outdoors. We cherish the safety and health of our park staff, instructors and participants and look forward to gathering together once again where we have the opportunity to meet other enthusiasts, share outdoor experiences and enjoy one another’s company.

Registration Registration will open on August 5, 2020 at 12pm via www.ticketleap.com and will close August 28, 2020 at 11:59pm. To register, participants purchase tickets that represent their registration for the number of sessions they wish to participate in as well as desired activities and optional grab and go meals. Upon registration, participants should receive a confirmation email generated by Ticketleap. If you do not obtain it, please contact [email protected] to verify email address and/or get confirmation re-sent electronically. Please print off your confirmation to reference the sessions, activities and meals for which you registered. Since there will be no gathering, there will not be a common area for you to reference registration lists.

Please understand that participation within these activities is limited. We highly encourage registering when registration opens to increase the chances of getting into the desired activities. Waiting lists are not managed (see cancellation policy described below). Although many ladies would like to come to the event with a friend or family member, we also want to provide everyone an equal opportunity; therefore, individuals will be limited to purchasing one ticket/person for all activities. Those that want to attend with friends or family members will need to coordinate a time to register individually, factoring in ticket availability at that time.

Lodging, Camping & Restrooms Dorms will not be available. Local lodging is available at the lake as well as in Bottineau, ND (14 miles SW of Lake Metigoshe State Park). Visit www.bottineau.com for information on local accommodations. To make onsite campsite reservations, please call 1-800-807-4723 or visit www.parkrec.nd.gov. Modern (electricity and water) and primitive (no electricity or water) campsites will be available for $25/night and $17/night respectively. Reservations should be made prior to the event. Comfort stations will be open and available for those looking for restrooms and/or showers throughout the event weekend. Comfort stations with flushing toilets, sinks and showers are located in the modern campground. The comfort station near the beach, having flushing toilets and sinks, may be available. Those looking to experience camping that do not have a tent should contact [email protected] as there are a few tents that can be made available to those interested in gaining that experience with us in our campgrounds. We’ll provide a tent, participants would need to bring all camping supplies and make their own campsite reservations.

Grab & Go Meals Grab & go meals will be available for breakfast and lunch on Saturday as well as breakfast on Sunday. Those meals will be handed out by catering staff in the main office area where there will be one-way traffic flow established. Please read ticket description via Ticketleap to obtain meal menus and prices. Due to grab and go logistics, we will not have the flexibility to accommodate for those with dietary restrictions, allergies, etc.

Gear & Equipment Participants are asked to carefully read activity descriptions to reference valuable information related to items to bring and/or what to wear. Most gear and materials are provided unless otherwise noted in activity descriptions. Although items such as bike helmets, yoga mats, field guides, binoculars, life jackets, etc. will be available, ladies are welcome to bring their own should they feel more comfortable.

Physical Activity Ratings Each activity has a fitness level rating to include Easy, Moderate and Arduous. Some activity ratings may vary as they depend upon the level you choose to do them, an individual’s physical condition or the trail or activity may vary in difficulty throughout the session itself. We hope you find that information helpful when choosing activities.

Arrival & Activity Locations Activity locations will be communicated to registered participants prior to the event via email. It is crucial for registered participants to check their email, including junk or spam folders, to ensure emails are received. A majority of the sessions will take place within the state park boundary, but may require a short drive. A few activities will meet and take place outside of the state park, requiring a bit longer drive (up to 12 miles for one activity). Activities that take place more than one mile outside of the state park indicate the location and distance within its activity description. Please do not utilize GPS navigation systems when traveling to the park as they usually direct visitors to the wrong area of the lake. Follow a North Dakota map in addition to local road signs. Look for the flag poles and large entrance sign. Out of respect for staff, instructors and other participants please do your best to be on time; those that are late run the risk of not catching up to the group and/or activity.

State Park Entrance Fees Special thanks to Starion Bank (Bottineau, ND) and Souris River Telephone (SRT) Communications for their continued support in purchasing advertising space and covers the state park entrance fees for all registered WOW participants. Entrance fees are $7/vehicle/day or $35 for an annual permit.

What to Bring Items to consider bringing include Ticketleap confirmation and emails to reference, camping chair, lip balm, sunscreen, various clothing layers to adjust to changing weather conditions, ball cap, sunglasses, bug spray, good hiking shoes and any gear described within activity descriptions which you are registered.

Weather Should weather forecast not be ideal, the event will go on. What’s a wild outdoor woman that can’t take a little rain and/or cold? Please plan and pack appropriate gear as well as a positive attitude for this North Dakota outdoor event.

Lake Metigoshe State Park is located 15 miles NE of Bottineau, North Dakota. The park entrance is located along the Lake Loop Road, about 3 miles off of Highway 43.

Cancellation Policy All sales are final, no exceptions. The costs affiliated with this event are covered by registration fees. If you have registered, but are no longer able to attend, you are able to send a replacement as long as prior notification is given and necessary liability waivers have been completed. Any participants that do not attend will waive their full registration amount. Please send notification of replacements to [email protected] in addition to notifications of any last-minute changes. If, for whatever reason, Lake Metigoshe State Park needs to cancel the event in its entirety or a portion of the event, full refunds will be provided.

Val’s Cyclery-FREE Bike Checks Val’s Cyclery (Minot, ND) is traditionally a proud partner for WOW events. They are not able to do their Basic Bike Maintenance session this year due to the need for close contact and sharing of tools and equipment. To help ensure that, they are inviting all WOW participants to stop in for a FREE bike check prior to attending the event. Please contact Rory at 701-839-4871 to make arrangements in advance. Be sure to let him know you are headed to LMSP for the fall Mini WOW Event!
