Thematic photography Artist statement Time passing away, it is inevitable to stop changes to take place. However, changes in Hong Kong are way too radical that you cannot even predict what will disappear in the next minute. Together with the technological advancement, some traditional professions have begun to be kicked out by this era. Some Hong Kongers complains that Hong Kong is deprived of its own local color as the whole society is “eroded” by the large financial group. Do you think that life in Hong Kong is of less and less sense of security? Can you still find the handmade product bought in some shops operated by the artisans or their family nowadays? You may not be aware of where they are and how they are working. That is why I am attempting to capture how the traditional artisans are devoted themselves into working on their jobs. Their efford should also be appreciated. They may vanish in our tiny city silently. I hope that we can still remember those being serious to their profession with their passion, at least before they vanish. A place which has its warmth and beauty does not only depend on its economic revenue. Indeed, a place is aesthetically experienced because of the people found in a specific space which can be anywhere including those you may not notice.
