MINI NEWS No. 6 June 11, 2020 From the Principal Extra Curricular Activities Rebooting As restrictions ease in the community with some usual activities recommencing, so to will school life start returning to normal. This week it has been great to see the return of a couple of our valued extra-curricular activities with Drama and Drumming Clubs rebooting this week. A big thanks to Mrs Hamilton for giving up her time with offering these opportunities to our children again. As of yesterday the Department has released information that a staged reintroduction of school sport will occur in Term 3 with schools able to conduct interschool and representative sport. We look forward to receiving further information regarding this in the coming weeks so that we can begin preparations with rebooting our sporting programs which is fantastic news! Virtual Assembly On Monday we utilised our new school Intercom System to address some sound issues from the previous week which allowed us to conduct a very successful Virtual Assemblyhosted from our main Office. Our school captains, Brayden Manttan and Takiyah Sweet did a great job hosting our assembly which was again streamed liveto all classrooms. With 313 Green Cards put in our assembly boxes the green card draw was hotly contested. Congratulations to our Green Card winners for last week: Prep (Oliver Bruning), Yr 1/2 (Eliezer Taule), Yr 3/4 (Jaxon Wilson) and Yr 5/6 (Rhena Gulpan). Carpark Reminder Thankyou to the vast majority of parents who are doing a fantastic job with following our current guidelines of waiting outside the school fence and utilising the Stop, Drop facility if possible. The dashcards are working a treat and with our wireless microphone in action we are able to clear a large number of cars in good time each afternoon. If you havent received a dashcard and would like one, please contact the office. Can I please remind parents that only students who receive support from our SEP team are permitted to use the SEP carpark at the top end of our school. Parents permitted to use this facility collect and drop off their children through the SEP classroom next to the carpark. We have had reports of other parents coming in and using this carpark and then walking through the school to drop children off at various classrooms. We ask that all parents follow the guidelines that we are currently working with to ensure that all students and staff are kept safe at school. Thankyou for your support with this request.

Extra Curricular Activities Rebooting As restrictions ease in the community with some usual activities recommencing, so to will school life start returning to normal. Virtual Assembly On Monday we utilised our new school Intercom System to address some sound issues from the previous week which allowed us to conduct a very successful ‘Virtual Assembly’ hosted from our main Office. Our school captains, Brayden Manttan and Takiyah Sweet did a great job hosting our assembly which was again streamed ‘live’ to all classrooms. If you haven’t received a dashcard and would like one, please contact the office. Can I please remind parents that only students who receive support from our SEP team are permitted to use the SEP carpark at the top end of our school. State School Consent Form (Media and Social Media Update) As our school continues to evolve with the way that we communicate with our community there is a need to update the consent that parents provide with the use of our students image, name and school work. Currently we are expanding our communication platforms as we begin to utilise ‘Instagram’ and ‘YouTube’. As a result, tomorrow we will be sending home an updated ‘State School Consent Form’ which outlines these changes. I ask that parents please complete and return the ‘State School Consent Form’ which allows parents to either grant, withdraw or detail limitations with how the school can use their child’s image, name etc. on the various communication platforms that we use. If you have any questions regarding this form, please contact the school for further information. Containers for Change Recycling Program This week we have started our Containers for Change recycling program with having our ‘yellow lid’ bins in place in all eating areas. Our senior students will be leading the program by transferring containers from the bins into our collection cage each Friday. Please make sure that you keep any containers that can be recycled and send them into school to be collected. We will be encouraging our students to also recycle any ‘poppers’ or containers that they may have as part of their lunch each day, that can be recycled rather than disposed of as rubbish. Thanks to everyone for supporting this very worthwhile program.

School Photos

MSP have confirmed that our photo day has been rescheduled to next term on Wednesday 9

th September, please mark this down in your calendar.

At this stage as previously mentioned, there will be no group photos taken which includes student leaders, instrumental bands or siblings. Student individual photos will be taken and then displayed in class groupings. If anything changes regarding these restrictions we will keep you informed.
