WHAT YOU’LL NEED: • Epsom salt • Glass jar • Food coloring • Warm water • Measuring cups • Spoon or craft stick • Refrigerator  HOW TO DO IT: 1. In a glass jar, combine Epsom salt and warm water using a 1:1 ratio. For example, if you are using 2 cups of Epsom salt, you will need to mix it with 2 cups of warm water. 2. Stir the salt and water, using a spoon or a craft stick. Do this for about a minute, or until most of the salt is dissolved. It is okay if there is still some salt at the bottom of the jar. 3. Add a few drops of food coloring, if you’d like, to make your crystals colorful! 4. Immediately place the jar in a refrigerator and let it rest for at least a day. 5. Now, the moment you’ve been waiting for! Remove the jar from the refrigerator and carefully pour out any extra liquid. What do you observe? 6. Keep experimenting! Try different ratios of salt to water and see what happens! You can also experiment with the temperature of the water. Also, try putting the saltwater mixture in the freezer for a few minutes before sticking it in the fridge. See how big you can get your crystals to grow by tinkering with these variables!
