Pastor's Corner ~ Rev. Eric Lane
Greetings,
In 2015, I spoke with my DS and shared that if they felt that my gifts could be used to serve
another church, that I would be willing to take another appointment.
I can’t remember the day, but I do remember the call. My DS asked if I would be willing to
move to another church, they didn’t say where it was or who it was, and my response was:
“If you have prayed about this and feel that I can be used, then I will go where I am
appointed.
Shortly afterwards I learned that I would be coming to Mineral Springs UMC. I can’t
remember the exact year, Bruce was here, and I visited this church for the first time. You
were hosting an event for the clergy. Now I was coming to serve as your pastor.
As I drove down the highway, many thoughts ran through my head, mainly I was wondering
if anyone would be around to move me into the parsonage and boy, was I ever surprised. I
was warmly greeted by a group of people, who today I consider to be our friends, before I
knew it the truck was unloaded and by the end of the day the house began to look like a
home.
Over the past four years much has changed but one thing has remained and that is the love
that we have shared. Beth and I have truly been blessed and have felt your kindness and
love.
Because of the love that we have shared, it makes it difficult to say that the time has come
for us to move on. Beth and I have prayed to be closer to our children and grandchildren. I
know that many of you understand that. They are only young for a short time and truthfully,
we do not want to miss out on that time.
We have been torn between staying and going, and that is because of how much you have
meant to us. You have become part of our family. We have shared good times and not so
good times, but both have brought us closer and made our bonds tighter.
What makes it even more difficult is the pandemic and quarantine that we are in and we are
not able at this time to be together. But there will be another day and another time down the
road.
When I learned that Alan Mears will be following me, while I do not know him personally, I
am excited to see that there will be children in the parsonage, in fact he has (4) children. I
know that you will welcome him just as you welcomed me, and his family will become a
part of your family just as we have become family.
While it saddens us to say good-bye, I am excited to see what lies ahead for Mineral
Springs. As a church you are poised to grow and flourish. My work here has come to an
end. I feel certain that Rev. Mears will bring new and fresh ideas and together with your
help, the ministries of the church will continue to grow as well as the body.
Thank you for joining with Beth and me in ministry with you. Thank you for forgiving my
shortcomings and mistakes. If I have ever caused you harm, I ask for your forgiveness. I
pray that we will have a chance to personally say good-bye before June 29. Always know
that you are loved and we will never forget the times that we have shared together.
May God bless you and keep you.

Dear Church Family,
Just a note to thank you for all the cards, thoughts, and
prayers, during the passing of my mother. I especially
want to thank those who listened to the endless perils of

Thank you again. Love, Dawna and family

It's amazing how quickly life can change. It's only been
about a month since we were all told to stay home, and
everyone's routine has been drastically altered. For most of
us, we don't get to see the people we used to spend a lot of
time with. For me, that means the praise band, tech team,
and volunteers at the Bridge. I've been a member of the
staff here at Mineral Springs for six months, but I was a
volunteer for four years. It's an awesome feeling to get to
work with such a talented and dedicated group. The people
that make the Bridge happen have become great friends of
mine, and I miss them all. On the brighter side, though, the
staff has really come together during all of this. We've had
to work as a team during the shutdown more than we did
before, and much good has come out of it. I knew that
Christa can sing, but if it weren't for the shutdown, I
probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to make music
with Ian. And who knew Daniel could rock the Bass of
Doom?? Eric has been very solid through this, and his
leadership is appreciated. I'm honored to be part of this
group. I also need to recognize Brittany Votaw and
Ryan Toth. They've both stepped up and volunteered a
LOT of time to record, edit, and upload the services to
Facebook. They've been put into a difficult situation and
have had to learn a lot on the job. They deserve to be
congratulated, and I appreciate them. I miss you all, and I
hope this ends soon. Until then, let's remember to pray for
each other and hope for better days ahead!
Chris
Hey there youth and youth families!
What a crazy time this past month has been. The
leaders here have missed each of you dearly and are
excited to announce that this month we are going to
try some new things via social media, zoom and
Netflix in an attempt to stay connected
Zoom - we are going to start a Monday lunch, 40-
minute bible study. If you want to be a part of this,
please reach out to Daniel @ 336-575-0272.
Snapchat - Daniel will be posting daily devotionals
on the mineral springs youth group Snapchat.
So if you aren’t a part of that yet, be sure to add
yourself.
Facebook - we will also be posting devotionals on
the youth Facebook page for those that are not on
Snapchat.
Netflix - we are hoping to have a weekly Netflix
party, in which we will all watch a movie together
and chat about how the movie relates to our
Christian walk with the Lord.
Also... stay tuned for some FUN games and
activities this month via social media platforms and
maybe even a drop by visit from the Parker family.
Please know that we love each of you dearly and
miss you tremendously. As soon as we are able to
get back to “normal” youth events, we are planning
to blow the roof off!!!
This summer’s mission trip has been canceled due
to the pandemic, but we are hopeful to provide
other opportunities to serve locally this summer, if
we are able to.
If you need ANYTHING, please know that I am
here for you. Feel free to text, call, snap or message
me.
Serving Him, with Excitement,
Daniel Parker
Graduation Sunday
Our graduates are facing a strange and very different
graduation this year. I have a grandson graduating
and it saddens me that he will not be able to
experience graduation like so many others. However,
we can help make their graduation special.
At Mineral Springs UMC, we are recognizing (7)
high school graduates this year. Graduation Sunday
will be held on May 31st. Like we have done in the
years past we will be putting together a video of
pictures of their life. In addition, the church will have
some gifts for them.
However, we want to do something a little special
since we cannot be with them. We are planning a
“Graduation Parade”. We are going to have the
graduates line up along the sidewalk between the
Education Building and the Family Life Center.
We will drive down from Potter Road down to the
Robinson Picnic shelter and back up the other side,
so that we can show them how much we love them.
If you have a popup canopy 10x10, we would like to
borrow it. Each graduate will stand under the canopy.
We will place a basket in front of them if you have a
gift or card for them. We just want to say
CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES OF 2020!!!
Please return
“2020 High School Graduate Information”

Please send High School Graduates name,

What a great privilege it has been to work with
Daniel, Chris, Brittany, Ryan and Ian. While it has
been my pleasure to work with Ian we have had the
opportunity to be with Chris and Daniel from the
Bridge in our efforts to put together the music for
our online services.
I must say it is most challenging for me it has been
a completely foreign platform.
In addition to the fact that I have to actually "face"
the congregation (of course it is just a camera at this
point). Ha Ha!!
The Lord continues to Bless us in the midst of our
struggles, this is no exception. I miss the choir and
the experience of singing with you and look
forward to worshiping together again! I would be
remiss to mention that the choir longs to gather
again and worship with singing as well.
Until then.... my heart will go on singing!
I am still offering virtual piano lessons
while this time of separation lingers on.....

Take this time to learn something new!
