WELCOME MESSAGECricket Victoria is excited to once again be partnering School Sport Victoria (SSV) in the delivery of the Victorian Primary Schools Cricket Program. Both organisations are committed to providing high-quality cricket experiences for primary level boys and girls. As a part of our commitment to this, Cricket Victoria offers every Victorian primary school the opportunity to engage in this program at no cost to participants or schools. This exciting modified cricket format, called MILO T20 Blast School Cup (formerly Kanga 8s), is designed to maximise participation and to cater for all ability levels. Cricket Victoria has been conducting this state-wide cricket competition since 1998 with over 700 schools providing 1928 boys’ teams and 1325 girls’ teams in the 2011 competition. With cricket participation numbers growing and with the worldwide interest and excitement around T20 cricket, I encourage all schools to register. I wish every team that enters the MILO T20 Blast School Cup state-wide competition the best of luck and look forward to watching the State Final at the mighty MCG in December.

Whilst SSV is the primary deliverer of school sport for Victorian schools, Cricket Victoria provides a comprehensive school-based competition that includes modified rules to make the game of cricket more accessible to more schools and students. It is hoped that each district will consider hosting its own carnival so that a winner can be fed through to regional and state finals. Cricket Victoria makes it possible for every Victorian primary school to enter a MILO T20 Blast School Cup carnival at no cost to schools or participants. Cricket Victoria’s Regional Cricket Managers are more than happy to conduct clinics within schools that are entering for the first time. This competition will provide SSV with the state-wide Primary School Cricket Champions.

MILO T20 BLAST SCHOOL CUPThe state-wide MILO T20 Blast School Cup is a modified one-day cricket competition for boys and girls in Years 3-6. Schools attend their local regional carnival (see pages 8, 9 and 10 for venues and dates) and compete in a round-robin competition against other local schools.

MILO T20 Blast School Cup maximises participation for all participants in a quick 16 over game (8 overs per team) that requires only 45 – 50 minutes to complete. A regional carnival generally runs along the following timeline:• 9:30am: Schools arrive at local venue• 9:45am: School briefing & rules refresher• 10:00am: Round1• 11:00am: Round2• 12:00pm: Round3• 1:00pm: Finals• 2:00pm: Presentations• 2:15pm: Schoolsdepart(Please note: some carnivals may vary slightly from this schedule)

The winning girls’ and boys’ teams from all of the carnivals will participate in a Regional Final Day (at venues outlined), and the winners of these finals will have the opportunity to participate at the State Final to be held at the MCG in December.

Cricket Victoria and School Sport Victoria may offer a travel subsidy to those country teams that win through to the State Final, as well as awarding the eventual State Cricket Champion schools with a laptop computer.

HOW TO REGISTER:All registrations will again be done online. To register please go to the schools section on the Cricket Victoria website (www.cricketvictoria.com.au)

Cricket Victoria will send out confirmation to your school with all relevant information close to the date of the carnival. Carnivals can become full so the earlier you register the better! Once a carnival reaches capacity it will be removed from the on-line registration form.

If you have any queries regarding the information contained in this booklet, please phone Ryan Batchelder at Cricket Victoria on 9653 1155 or email [email protected].
