TOGETHER

Winter alpinism, ice climbing, dry tooling, ski touring,

freeride skiing… All of these activities, commitments

and passions bond you and us once again this win-

ter, as they have done throughout MILLET’s 60-year

history. Together for the best. Together for pleasure.

Together in the beauty of the mountains!

With experience and know-how, driven by contemporary creativity, mar-

king new milestones in technical innovation, and reaching for the ulti-

mate in perfection and quality, we daily build the MILLET motto into our

product development process. True Products for Real People, now and

MAJOR BENEFITS

At MILLET, our product equation – for clothing and equip-

ment – is primarily based on the specific essence of each

discipline: dedicated functions + required technical capability

= a precise response. And in their final application for the

mountains, the major benefits of our developments are natu-

rally expressed in each MILLET product: protection, ergono-

mics, resistance, durability, breathability, thermal regulation,

lightness, compressibility…

A WHITE DREAMTime for action! Snow is cladding the summits, and the

waterfalls are freezing into ice... Winter brings a rush of

committed ascents, stunning vertical exploits, and beautiful

descents through the powder… A white dream for sharing –

that’s the joy we wish for you!

PERFORMANCE AND FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT

From the GORE-TEX® of our Expert Series jackets to

the Vibram® of our Alpine boots… From the Dryedge™

of our Ride On pants to the Carline Cocona® of our

underwear… From the Polartec® of our Action Shell

garments to the French 90/10 goose down of our expe-

dition clothing… From the Nylon 420D of our backpacks

to the polyamide of our ropes… By selecting the finest

technical materials and applying high-quality construc-

tion methods, we attain our goal: supporting your per-

formance, protecting you in action, and liberating your

mountain moves!

MORE COMMITMENT, EVER-GROWING FREEDOM

“… Winter alpinism is a narrative finely poised

between commitment and freedom. The sporting

adventure is intensely present. Like the joy felt at

the top of a face, between light and shadows, in the

January twilight… The style of ascent – more tech-

nical, more efficient, faster – has changed winter. A

change enabled by equipment evolutions…”

WINTER IS HARSH, AND WINTER IS PURE The cold grips you in a constant struggle. The sun plays hide-and-seek behind

the mountains. Frostbite can be severe... The pack contains the weight of vital

equipment, including skis. The days are short. It’s still deep darkness when you

attack, and the sun has already set when you descend… Winter is harsh.

Climbing conditions are fairly favourable in winter, with anticyclones often in place:

blue skies, radiant sun and magnificent light. The sky is clement, without the storms

of summer. Devoid of fresh stabilised snow, a face is safer when the rock is en-

cased in ice. Gullies are generously covered with ice. Anchors are sound. And a

skied approach/return saves precious time.

On icefalls, great caution is required. The ephemeral interplay of water and ice is

subtler. Experience is acquired over time.

EQUIPMENT IS AN ASSET TO ENABLE ADVENTURE

Protection, ergonomics, resistance, warmth, precision and lightness are the tech-

nical criteria for success. At MILLET, they come as standard in our Expert series.

To bring adventure alive!

DYNAMIC ROPE - TRIPLE RATED - EQUALLY SAFE AND EFFICIENT. HIGH PERFORMANCE FROM ALPINISM TO SPORT CLIMBING.

ABSOLUTE SAFETYFor mountain professionals and modern-style alpinists, the ABSOLUTE PRO 50/60m guarantees maximum safety. Resistant to sharp rocky arêtes, ideal on glaciers: its very low impact force ensures flawless fall-energy absorption.

ABSOLUTE EFFICIENCY For vertical adventurers, hungry for cliff-face com-mitment in free or aid mode. The ABSOLUTE PRO 50m guarantees maximum efficiency. Its lightness facilitates clipping and manipulation at belay sta-tions. For abseiling, it can be coupled with the Dy-

neema rope of the same length, used on the ascent for bag-hauling.

ABSOLUTE PERFORMANCEFor modern sport climbers, the ABSOLUTE PRO 80m guarantees maximum performance: strong dy-namic belaying, combined with its low impact force, means real comfort. Its matchless “hand” offers total move-making freedom.

STRENGTHS

With this evolved version of the Pro Alpine, we have managed to shed a further 1-2 g/m, thus creating double rope for technical mountain routes in snow, ice and mixed terrain.

Let’s be clear: the raw material of all-polyamide ropes comes from non-renewable resources. But the process has been optimised: electricity consumption is minimal (by cutting out strand colouring, drying and finishing) but life is extended by a 25% rise in sheath mass.

THE FREEDOM OF SKI TOURING

“ … Whether discovery touring in the Briançon-

exploring from a base in the Oberland or raiding in

Norway, the wildness of the mountains is what we

seek. And freedom is what we find… Safe equipment

is obviously key. In our packs, avalanche and glacier

safety gear and the mountain sportsman’s array of

clothing are vital elements of our protection …”

SKI

21

SKI TOURING HAS MANY FACETS It’s a constant: every sportsperson ascends and descends on skis. Then, it’s a

question of personal interpretation. In its most modern form, competition and com-

mitment mark the trend and trigger the urge…

SKI COMPETITIONS: TARGETING FIRST PLACE Pierra Menta, Mezzalama, TSF MILLET… These races involve huge elevation and

effort. It’s the Ultra-Trail mindset on snow: risk your skin to gain a second! The

records are crazy: Chamonix-Zermatt normally takes five or six days, but in 2008

Stéphane Brosse of Team MILLET completed the route in 21 hours! A time that’s

since been beaten… When it comes to equipment, dedicated technical functiona-

lity, lightness, and breathability are the keys to winning!

THE COMMITMENT OF MOUNTAIN SKIING

Pure mountain thrills at your ski-tips... Commitment is your engine, and

humility your life-assurance policy! A hybrid of alpinism and freeriding, with

technical ascents and steep slopes, it’s all about the hunt for strong sensa-

tions. The Mont Blanc Massif provides an terrific playground – and it’s also

MILLET’s lab!

FREERIDING IS A COMMITMENT

“… Avalanches, rocky ridges, and crevassed gla-

ciers are the risks I deal with. In this sensational

mountain game, humility and the wisdom of knowing

when to give up are the values that I share in my

snowsport sessions. Safety is savoir-vivre, whereas

commitment and the freedom to glide form the rider’s

harmony…”

FREERIDING IS AN ATTITUDE

Freeriding is what it says: a full-on discipline that fuses mountain commitment and

snowsport play. The white mantle of winter is a source of inspiration, imagination,

dreams and intense sensations. Clipped into their skis, practitioners taste the plea-

sure of the ride. Pistes are a secured area necessary for some, but the freerider’s

territory is wild mountains. In freeriding, stopwatches and rankings take a back

seat – what matters is the fluency of the glide, the beauty of the line, the quest for

secret slopes and virgin traces, and the sublime thrill of powder exploding in spray.

Liberated in mindset, the rider is a modern adventurer. Locations are described as

mythical. Riders converge on awesome spots – resorts from Les Grand Montets to

Alaska – for ski outings shared with friends…
