• What is your full name? Gaile Ellen Millard

• Why did your parents select this name for you? They liked the name Gaile.

• Did you have a nickname? Refused to answer.

• When and where were you born? 1955 Dover, NH

• How did your family come to live there? Moved from Virginia to work at the Portsmouth Navel Ship Yard.

• Were there other family members in the area? Who? Yes. Aunt Ruth

• What was the house like? 4 bedroom, 1 bath, 2 car garage

• What is your earliest childhood memory?

• Describe the personalities of your family members. As the second oldest of 8 kids, there were a lot of personalities. The two boys and father were strict and angry. Dad did not tolerate any BS. Maa was subservient and unhappy. None of us kids had much, but was grateful for what we did have.

• What was your favorite toy and why? It was a doll that I named Mary. It was the only toy that I had growing up.

• What was school like as a child? School was alright. Spent most of the time working. I dropped out in 12th grade to get married and try to have a better life.

• Describe your typical family dinner. Sit down, shut up, and eat your f***ing food- All of your food, or get an *** beating and eat what you didn’t eat for breakfast.

• What do you know about your family surname? Henderson has its roots from England. Segee is Indian, Elston is English, Lord is English.

• Are there any characteristics that run in your family? Yes, High cheekbones, short temper, and looking out for one another.

• Where did you meet my dad? We met in Virginia. In High School. He joined the Army at 17 and I, stupidly, followed him.

• Why did you chose your children’s names? I liked the names. I was gonna name your brother, Brandon, Brandy, but he was a boy.

• What is your profession and why did you choose it? I'm a nurse. I chose nursing to make a better life for my family.
