Organic agriculture is becoming ever more important, as consumers are increasingly wanting organic produce. The Regulation for Organic Agriculture of the European Union EC 834/2007 and EC 889/2008 specifies the requirements that an agricultural product must fulfil in order to obtain the EU organic seal.

What cleaning and disinfection products may be used is also defined, but there is no procedure of also applying an organic seal to such means. For this reason, we have closed this gap ourselves and developed a company-own logo to create quick iden-tification of organic-compliant products.

The directive for organic agriculture specifies, in particular, products on the basis of less common basic chemicals, such as caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, mineral acids, organic acids and similar substances, as organic-compliant.

In very sensitive areas, such as the cleaning and disinfection of milking facilities and the teats of the cow, where product evolution together with the processes in the busi-ness has reached a very high level in the meantime, this requirement is suspended. The washing active substances in our products for the area fulfil the requirements of the detergent directive (EC) No. 648/2004 as regards their biological degradability.

The Calvatis organic-compliant logo shows you quickly and with certainty suitable products for organic agriculture in accordance with EU directives.

The products correspond to the requirements for use in organic agriculture in accor-dance with Regulations EC 834/2007 and EC 889/2008. For the cleaning and disinfec-tion of milking facilities and the teats of the cow, all types of cleaning and disinfection agents are permissible.

Cleaning agentsUse concentration 0.5 - 1% depending on the water volume. Use caustic solution and acid at alternating intervals, depending on water hardness.

All these parameters are easy to check and guarantee that your milking system is properly cleaned at all times.

Milk system cleaning

The use of suitable detergents and disinfectants for cleaning milking sys-tems is only one component which contributes to a residue-free clean-ing of milking systems maintaining raw milk quality. Using the example of circulation cleaning, we list the essential parameters of effective milking plant cleaning:

Tank cleaning

Tank cleaningThe cleaning and disinfection of milk containers is as a rule possible with all milking system clean-ers, but a temperature of at least 40°C must be reached.

The products are used alternately alkaline and acidic.

If the cleaning temperature of at least 40°C is not reached, deposits form in the collection con-tainer.

So-called low-temperature cleaners are used here, which have been specially designed for tank cleaning.

Using these products is also recommended in order to reduce engineering costs.

Organic calcium salts such as milk stone are also excellently dissolved. It is foam-free and easy to rinse off during application. Calgonit Minoplus is ideal for clea-ning the boiling water of pipe milking systems. The product is also very suitable for the pitting of bott-le washing machines.
