Airman & Family Readiness 731-4900
THE AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS CENTER OFFERS INFORMATION, EDUCATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITYDURING DEPLOYMENTS, CONTINGENCIES AND EMERGENCIES.
PERSONAL AND FAMILY READINESS PROGRAMS help families to be self-sufficient if military members are away on deployments or temporary duty. The A&FRC also offers briefings, events and other support services for members and their families.
The Air Force recognizes the significant impact on military members and families during mission required separations (deployments, extended temporary duties and remote assignments). The Personal and Family Readiness Program was established to help educate, inform and provide support to military members and families experiencing separations.
Successful separations do not just happen; they require proper planning and preparation. Personal and Family Readiness Training is mandatory for military members and highly encouraged for spouses. With the help of the Personal and Family Readiness Program, Airmen and their families can acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully plan and prepare for mission required separations and gain an awareness of available resources and support networks.
PRE-DEPLOYMENT BRIEFINGSThis briefing is designed to reach single or married military members and family members. Readiness briefings emphasize the need for preparing and reviewing personal and family documents and family care plans. Deployment, separation and reunion issues are discussed as well as the A&FRC and community resources that are available during deployments. Active duty members going TDY/deploying for 30 days or more are required to attend this short briefing designed to prepare individuals and families for deployment. Family members are strongly encouraged to attend this briefing.
DEPLOYED FAMILIES EVENTS & SERVICESCheck the monthly A&FRC calendar for upcoming events and special occasions! In addition, programs such as the Morale Call Program, which provides the opportunity for family members whose sponsor is TDY, deployed, or on a remote assignment to receive a call from the sponsor once a week; Car Care Because We Care, where with the help of an Air Force Aid Society grant program, provides an oil change at no charge; Give Parents a Break, which provides child care once a month for parents who need a break from childcare responsibilities due to the stress associated with deployments or TDYs and others are in place to assist family members during deployments. Outreach services, workshop classes and seminars, the Key Spouse Program and referral services are also available.
REINTEGRATION BRIEFINGSActive duty members returning from deployment are required to attend this mandatory briefing before beginning leave. Topics briefed include A&FRC, Chapel, Mental Health, Military Family Life Consultants (MFLC) and Child Youth Behavioral MFLC as well as topics such as your deployment experience, stress, signs and symptoms of PTSD and more.
