AUTO-EMBEDDING STEPS

CONSUMABLES

The specimen is placed in the bottom of the plastic

mold

A sponge is added on top to maintain the specimen’s

position and orientation

A cassette is clipped on to the top of the mold and used

as a cover

The mold and cassette assembly is inserted in the

rack and processed

The rack is removed from the processor and the

embedded cassettes are placed on a cold plate

After 10 minutes, the cassettes are ready to be

opened and cut

The mold is easily opened The specimenis quickly released for cutting

Trimming is reduced utilizing this method

Auto-embedding addresses chronic staff-ing shortages by allowing users to bypass the time consuming task of manually em-bedding small biopsies. Milestone devel-oped Synergy, an auto-embedding rack system, which allows users to utilize Mile-stone’s xylene-free tissue processors for both standard processing and auto-em-bedding. With Milestone’s auto-embed-ding racks, there is no need to purchase a stand-alone auto-embedding instrument and manually transfer cassettes, nor to take up precious real estate with additional bulky instrumentation.

The patented rack design of Synergy is easy to load. It utilizes sponges to prevent tissue from drying out during grossing and to maintain tissue position and orienta-tion during processing. When processing is complete, the user simply needs to transfer the cassettes to a cold plate for 10 minutes and then they are ready for cutting. Syner-gy works with Milestone’s LOGOS, Pathos DELTA or MAGNUS rapid tissue processors, with maximum productivity reached when partnered together with MAGNUS.

When utilizing auto-embedding, speci-mens are orientated once during grossing and are not touched again until microto-my, minimizing the risk of losing valuable specimens or their proper orientation. Milestone’s auto-embedding system re-duces the potential for errors during man-ual embedding, eliminating the need for time-consuming re-embedding. All of this accomplishes streamlined workflows that benefit everyone, from the Pathologist to the patient. Standard Mold Biopsy Mold Biopsy SpongeStandard Sponge
