Movie Review by Marlene Costa

I’m a sucker for movies, especially animated films. Zootopia compares to no other. It came out on March 4th and it’s a must see! It not only contains a great message, but it is also super funny and everyone will enjoy it. It was directed by Byron Howard, Rich Moore, and co-directed by Jared Bush. Zootopia is about a young ambitious cop, Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), and her partner Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). Their investigation about the disappearances of a dozen predators. Zootopia is a make be-lieve city where predators and prey live together in harmony. This movie offers an important message to all; discrimination is wrong, ste-reotypes are stereotypes for a reason, and it is not easy to overcome the reasons for con-flict between groups. This action and adven-ture filled comedy will surely be loved by those of all ages.

This is the perfect spring craft you can have fun creat-ing. It’s easy and takes little to no time to make! To make a coffee filter butterfly craft you’ll need coffee filters, watercolor paints, color pipe cleaners and paint brushes. What you want to do is grab a single coffee filter and open it up, spreading it flat on your painting surface. Then you need to paint! Pick your favorite colors and have fun! Paint the whole surface of the filter, and be sure to have something underneath as the water colors will go through the filter. Let the filters dry for about 15 – 20 minutes. The filter will be very wet, so you might need to give it more time. Once the filter is completely dry, gather it in the middle and pinch the back side. To make the body, take a pipe cleaner, fold it in half and slide it upwards, positioning it so that it is in the center of the coffee filter. The part of the pipe cleaner that is folded over should hold the butterfly together, while the two open ends of the pipe cleaner should be facing up, like an-tennas. Twist around a couple of times at the top to secure. You can then fan out the wings. Bend or curl the ends of the antennas to add a finishing touch. You can curl the ends of the pipe cleaner with your finger tip. Follow these steps and you’ll create a fun and easy activity for your kids.

After at-tending the NJFEA Conference at TCNJ, members of FEA came back to Riverside with some amazing techniques and ideas. Compared to last year, ad-viser Mrs. Szul has changed many things. Shadowing

has changed from a half of day to a full day. Before members saw eight teachers throughout the year, now they split the year between two teachers. During shad-owing, members help the teachers by grad-ing papers, filing, and helping teach lessons. Every member

also has to dress professionally during their shad-owing day. Their next activity will be to partner with Stu-dent Government to set up some nice things for the staff for teacher appreciation week in May.

Say goodbye to all of your floral prints, and peachy colors. Stripes, sequins, plaids, miropleat material, ruffles, and exotic pat-terns are all waiting to be pulled out for the Spring of 2016. Don’t forget to let your shoulders show, design all of your denims, bring back out the flare pants, wear your sporty mesh in almost every outfit, and create a “paper bag waist”. All of these trends have been used before, so if you’re lucky you won’t have to do much shopping. Keep in mind if you don’t have any of these fashion designs in your closet, Forever 21 always has updated clothing and is not expen-sive.

The series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia centers around four egocentric friends who run a bar in Philadelphia. In the gang are Dennis and Dee, brother and sister, and childhood friends Mac and Charlie. They are joined by Frank, Dennis and Dee’s father. Together, they ruin other people’s lives. Every episode is a different scheme that ends incredibly aw-ful. These schemes range from buying a police car and impersonating police to getting free hotdogs by sell-ing gasoline door-to-door. Throughout the series, the characters develop their own punchlines and jokes. This show uses very dark comedy that’s often offensive. The opening credits of the show are the histori-cal sights of Philadelphia at night, which immediately shows you the irony of the show’s title. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is like Seinfeld but with a more crude sense of humor. The series is up to the eleventh season with a twelfth season on its way.

Although Danny is a rare face to see among the halls, he brightens the spirit that inhabits the high school when present. Danny is a senior here at RHS and is definitely ready to get out of here. Danny has one hobby that trumps all of the oth-ers and that is Clash of Clans. He is the co-leader of the most successful Clan in Riverside. His leadership skills transfer well from Clash of Clans to his school spirit. At every pep rally, you can see Danny pumping up the senior class trying to get them a little more excited. Danny also has other interests aside from his Clash of Clans habit. Danny is a huge Philadelphia fan. He loves every sports team in Philly and will sup-port them until he dies. His favorite being the Eagles. Danny supports Philadelphia even through the worst of times. This is a great example of his sportsmanship and passion for the things he loves. All around, Danny is a very important piece of Riverside High School. His face is a good one to see around these halls and it will be tough to see it gone once graduation comes around. Thanks for being a great student Danny. Enjoy the remainder of your ex-citing senior year!

The River-side Rams Baseball Team started off the 2016 spring season at 6-6. With coach Gary Herron being the head coach, they won the divi-sion the last two years and are look-ing forward to win-ning it once again. The Rams have seven return-

ing varsity players and they are 3-1 in their division. The team has a pair of sophomore lefties on the mound this year with Frankie Doelling and An-thony Perez. These young men are also the number 2 and number 3 hitters in the Rams

line up. The Rams only have 2 starting seniors this year, Christian Furniss and Kasey Getz. The rest of the team is made up of sophomores and juniors. Riverside is a young team and will most likely be favored to win their division for the

next two years. Christian Furniss is the team captain. Christian and Anthony both made second team freedom during the 2015 season. The Rams are looking for-ward to a stron-ger and better season than last year. They hope

to go farther in the playoffs than last year, which was the second round.

The softball team is back and ready to have anoth-er successful season! With the di-vision tight this year, the Rams are ready

to battle their way to the top. Even though the Rams have a lot of newcomers, they still go out there everyday and

work hard. Their captains Joannah Lim, Kasie Shively, Haley Mitchell, and Autumn Perlmutter make sure the team is ready every prac-tice and every game to give 100% on the field. At their season opener against Delran, the Rams fell short with a 2-1 score. It was a tough loss for the Rams, but they bounced back to beat Willingboro

18-1 and had a complete 10 in-ning win against Cinnaminson 15-14. With the season still going, the Rams have a lot of tough competition this year, but the Rams have what it takes to win the divi-sion. This years team members are seniors Joan-nah Lim, Kasie Shively, Haley Mitchell, and

Autumn Perlmutter. Juniors Alexis Davis, Gabby Vazquez, Megan Crammer, and Kayla Samero. Sophomore Emily Hubbs and freshmen Brianna Fritz, Emily Wojceichowski, and Hailey Russell. Their coach is Ms. Crystal Barbour. With the support of their family and fans, there is no stop-ping the Rams this season, so make sure you go and support the team.

RHS Softball Team poses after their first win of the 2016 season.

The River-side Track and Field team is ran by four coaches, Mr. Bal-lantyne, Mr. Postell, Ms. Murray and Mrs. Wilson. Every mem-ber of the track team works to the best of their ability and their success determines the event they will

compete in. Team members can com-pete as a sprinter, hurdler, jumper, pole vaulter, dis-tance runner, and/or a weight team member. Track is not like other sports, it is not a team sport. You com-

pete on your own to win your own event, but by win-ning and doing the best you can you help your team win the overall meet. Each athlete wants to try and get a PB (personal best) each meet and keep improving on their event.

The girl’s track captains are Sierra Armstrong, Rebecca Perry, Shannon Conrey, and Jessica Starke. The boy’s track captains are Kevin Ray, Mike Pierce and Jordan Perry. So far, the team has competed

against Burlington City, Maple Shade, & Trenton Catholic. Both the girls and the boys team have won each meet. The track team has been off to a good start this year. They are working hard and plan on continuing to improve at every meet and practice.

Prom Fashion by Brianna Cramer

Having trouble finding dresses/tuxedos to wear for prom? This might be of some help to you! There are so many local stores selling prom dresses that may be more affordable than the boutiques. Stores such as Macy’s and JCPenneys in the Cherry Hill Mall have a beautiful selection of dresses for cheap prices. On the other hand, there is a boutique on Marlton Pike E., in Cherry Hill called Jan’s Boutique. Another option is Marlene’s dress shop in Collingswood. A popular place to rent tuxedos is The Tuxedo Club, located in Cin-naminson. Another way to rent a tuxedo was during lunches on April 14th. A representative from Tuxedo Junction came to our school to take measurements for gentleman who would like to rent tuxedos from there. and he also gave out coupons to use at the shop.

Restaurant Review: Pavillion BBQby Nicole Lallo

The Pavilion Restaurant in Riverside is located at 112 Pavilion Ave. It’s a small restaurant with amazing food. It’s all portuguese food. On my visit, I or-dered chicken breast, french fries, rice and beans. The cost cameout to be about $11. Other than the taste of the food, I loved how big of a portion I received. I took the leftovers home and enjoyed them again thenext day. The restaurant has a huge variety of different foods, so almost anyone should be able to find something they like. The service was excellent. Everyone was very polite and professional. The inside of the restaurant was clean and looks small, but it was actually a decent size inside. In the back there is large room for parties and weddings. Overall, I had a great time eating at the Pavilion. I highly recommend everyone to go and try it.

Fitness Tips for Losing Weight in Time for Summer by Marquis Thomas

Eating healthy and often, while also keeping away from the fast food chains can cut a lot of un-wanted fats away from your diet. Also, adding a lot of fruits and veg-gies to your diet will improve your overall health. Eating

small meals six times a day can greatly help speed your metabolism. Keeping a few high fiber meals in your diet, to help tame the munchies, will also make you feel better. Water is also a great key to staying hydrated

and away from unwanted bever-ages like soda or alcohol. With a little adjustment in your diet and a willing spirit to burn those extra calories, reaching your goals should be easy. To avoid plateaus, it is great

to change up your workout or give your body a rest. It’s been proven that dra-matically chang-ing diet and jump-ing into a workout can only lead to failure, it’s best to always gradually change your life-style into a more beneficial one.

Underdogs Sanders, Cruz giving Frontrunners Run for Moneyby Jake Stockton

A year ago today, the average person who was fairly up to date in politics would have guessed Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton would be the nomi-nees for their respec-tive parties. But of course, politics are very unpredictable, alas Barack Obama defeating Hillary Clinton as the under-dog in 2008. Surprisingly, Jeb Bush failed miserably and is no longer running. Currently, the leader of the Democratic party with 2,164 (includes 520 superdelegates) delegates is Hillary Clinton. For the Re-publicans, Donald J. Trump leads the way with 987 delegates. When it comes down to it, deciding who re-ceives the nomina-tion in either party is simple math, who-ever has the most delegates is the nominee for their party. Delegates are won through state-wide votes in which candidates receive a percentage of del-egates. They usually are awarded depend-ing on their percent-age of votes, howev-er in some very rare cases winner takes all.

At times, when voting for a nominee, the people’s votes do not decide every-thing. In the Democratic and Republican par-ties, they have superdelegates and unbound delegates, which have nothing to do with the state-wide vote. Further-more, superdel-egates and un-bound delegates are pledged to a candidate by elected officials and party lead-ers within their party. In con-trast with the Democratic Party, Republicans bring unbound delegates to the National Conven-tion, to which they are then allocated. In the Democratic Party the leaders decide to allocate super-delegates when-ever they feel it is necessary, with-out a convention. Still one should keep in mind that they can be switched to either candi-date if the leader wants to do so. As men-tioned before, in the Democratic Party Hillary

Clinton has the most delegates. However, she would be unwise to get too comfortable with Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders on the out-side looking in. His passionate speeches that involve berat-ing the “Billionaire Class’’ for ruining the American economy have certainly helped him gain ground. Sanders, who would be the first Jewish or Socialist President, was once considered a long-shot. Now, he is receiving a lot of attention and he is certainly closing in on the former First-Lady’s once firm lead. Without su-perdelegates, which can be fluid, Sanders trails by 809 del-egates with close to 1,000 left. With all of his momentum, hence winning 8 of the last 13 states, he could lock this thing up in no time. On the other hand, the Republi-can Party has a very interesting situation. They have three candidates, none of which could be considered moderate by any measures, and they are a seriously unorthodox group. They argue about the sizes of their hands and the

correlation they have with other body parts and sometimes even berate each other’s wives. The can-didates who have done most of the bickering, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, are in a very close race. Donald Trump is leading by 425 delegates, but has not done a lot of “winning’’ recently. The current runner up, Ted Cruz has comeback from a large deficit and like Sanders, could also use his momen-tum to gain enough delegates to win. The third candidate, John Kasich, is the only candidate who has

really taken a back-seat to the bicker-ing. This has not really panned out, considering he has a measly 153 delegates. You can pretty much count him out. The states of California and New York could ultimately decide who wins for either party. The large amount of delegates since these states are so large could help any of the can-didates who are still competing separate from the other. Stay tuned...because there could be some very intense battles due to the nature of this election.
