MIDLAND STEM EXTRAVAGANZA On Tuesday 15 students were invited to attend a Science extravaganza hosted by SCITECH and the Midland Public Library. Learning in Miss T’s class is always so much fun and filled with practical hands on learning to keep the learners engaged and happy to share their creations.

An excursion to Caversham Wildlife Park is always a treat and a very valuable way to teach children about the care of our bush animals. For many children it’s the first time they get up close to feel the softness of a kangaroo’s fur. They learn, not only about caring for our endangered animals, but about the importance of our farm animals too.

SPECIAL PERSONS DAY

PLAYGROUND MURELS

Last time we brought to your attention the new murels and games lighting up our playing areas. This time we share our students making good use of the games during recess and lunch. We hope the games will encourage children to play together with fairness, take turns and be respectful of those with whom we are sharing a game.

Thanks Mr Peterson for another well conducted Cross Country race program. It was against the clock for sure but you managed to get things done right on the bell. Well done to the students who ran the distance to be the best person they could be on the day. It’s always a joy to watch the students meet the challenge. Certainly a good way to build resilience.

CROSS COUNTRY

Special persons day was an amazing success. It was great to see dads joining in. I particularly like the dad who was learning to skip with his most bemused boy looking on. Georgie was patiently waiting for the shaving crème to decorate her face. Anjana enjoyed watching Aaraadhak with his painting. So many parents and carers enjoying precious time with their young ones. Thank you all for your support. From the staff in the ECU.

Once again this year our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart– a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program by the Heart Foundation.

Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.

DREAM BUILDERS Our school councillors recently attended the dream and lead conference. It was a good way to learn that stepping outside of our comfort zone is very important. The students learned that our differences are our greatest asset and age does not determine your ability to achieve extraordinary things. You do well if you surround your self with people who charge you up. They also acknowledged that we are more likely to achieve our goals if we write them down.

B3 have been learning about Westy the Western Swamp Tortoise and how he survived in this habitat from the recent bushfires. We made Westy’s habitat and included a tunnel for him to hide and

aestivate (sleep).

Our BUSHFIRE acrostic poems matched our straw blown trees after a bushfire. We used some really interesting vocabulary about how the bushfire sounds and how it moves quickly through the forest. Our writing ideas were amazing! Mrs Lee B3
