Blacks are underrepresented in Brazilian Media. In Brazilian television, for example, 90% of journalists and anchors are white. Stereotype, prejudice and invisibility are the rule for this population.

Paulo Rogerio Nunes is a producer and media executive with 10 years of experience. He has been recognized as a social entrepreneur by Ashoka Social Entrepreneurship. Paulo has helped to create “Midia Etnica” in 2005.

Mr. Rogerio has produced documentaries, videos and written for several media organizations. He is currently a contributing writer for Americas Quarterly Magazine, the leading publication about policies in the western hemisphere. Previously, the magazine had chosen him as one of the top 25 young leaders in the region.

Paulo is currently at the University of Maryland, as the only scholar representing Latin America, in the esteemed Fulbright Humphrey Fellowship Program.
