Classroom Connection
Creative Writing with Mrs. Allen-Roberts
This semester students are taking Creative Writing as a first
time elective. We spent the first day reading Todd Finley's
famous article "Why do we have to write today?". But creative
writing students love to write! Using Finley's structure and
style as inspiration, we instead created all the reasons we
WANT to write and made a collage. Some of the reasons are
in the attached photos.

Spanish included: La Oruga Muy Hambrienta (The Very Hungry Caterpillar), Pinocho (Pinocchio),

Generoso (The Giving Tree), El Loro Tico Tango (The Parrot Tico Tango), Cenicienta (Cinderella),
and Grande Perro y Pequeno Perro (Big Dog, Little Dog). The students worked with a partner and

Chemistry Classes with Mrs. Dippo
Chemistry students worked with 2nd graders to explain some of the chemistry behind volcanic
eruptions. Mrs. Abbett’s second graders were studying volcanoes so the Chemistry III students did
projects and experiments with the students. Mrs. Abbett was very impressed with how great the
classes worked and commented that the high school students were “impressively patient!”
