He has been active in various forms of artistic expression since childhood. Garrison had his first art lessons at the old Wesleyan Conservatory in the 1950s. Garrison has a minor in Art History from Mercer University. Garrison started drawing and painting in early 1970. He had booths in the early years of the Mulberry Street Arts and Craſts Festival. He owned a gallery and framing business for several years in Ingleside Village. In the early ‘80s, Garrison sold his art at several galleries while living in Saudi Arabia. Currently Garrison makes exotic and primitive jewelry incorporating beads, deer antlers and found objects, wall hangings using driſtwood, beads and found objects, creates art on canvas and paper using acrylic and mixed media, and cuts his own frames. He has sold his artwork throughout Middle Georgia and at one time had paintings in the children’s area of Washington Library, as well as several local businesses. Kimie Yates placed third with “Eagle Falls.” Honorable Mention went to Gilbert Lee for “Devon Allman.” Cynthia P. Robertson placed first with “Santa Maria del Mar,” and her “Water Fun” (not pictured) received Honorable Mention. NEWS IN BRIEF MGAA member Scott Serafy was awarded Honorable Mention at the re- cent Georgia Watercolor Society 2018 Members’ Exhibition. e recog- nition included a cash award. e reception and awards ceremony were held in Sautee Nacoochee (near Helen, Ga.) on Oct. 14. Glenn Grossman had over two dozen photographs representing 40 years of live music in his solo show, “Live on Stage,” which ran concurrently with the gallery’s “Music” exhibit.
