Stitch a day.. allowed experimentation of new techniques stemming new ideas. Mini projects allowed the chance to make something new everyday and create a large body of work.


Stitching by hand.. this is quite a slow process in some techniques. Hand stitch holds so much stereotyping and connotations of old women, women’s rights and so forth. But the last few years have seen an explosion of stitchers and alteration in the way stitching is seen

Cross stitching


Hand stitching... not all hand stitching has to be plain, it can be decorative and interesting. The next few pages will cover a few ideas that have been hand stitched. It also is more controlled for a much more detailed design.


Hand stitching... the effect of the back of the work is always, it not more interesting then the front.

Machine experiments.. By using a sewing machine can make things a lot quicker, but at a price of losing detail, and accuracy. There is a more mechanical feel to the result, and can look just as amazing as hand made.
