Electromagnetic waves are a form of energy, usually produced by
electrons that had been vibrating.
Definition of MicrowaveMicrowave is wave with a super
high frequency (SHF). It’s a radio wave with the highest frequency, more than 3Ghz up 300Ghz. The wavelength is between 7.8 x 10-4 mm (7800 Å) or 1mm until 1m. If a microwave is absorbed by something, then it will show the effect of the heat on it
The Wavelength Frequency Area
Microwave with a wavelength between 1 millimeter to 1 meter. Or has frequency between 300 MHz (0.3 GHz) up to 300GHz.
Microwave
The Inventor of Microwave
Recognized by some people as the father of modern physics, James Clerk Maxwell was a very influential figure in the field of electricity, thermodynamics, photography, nuclear energy, and others. Invention of the electromagnetic spectrum that affect the development of television, radio, the microwave, and help in the development of radio and infrared. Equations on electromagnetic field is very important for the theory of special relativity, by Albert Einstein. He also produced the first color photograph. His work really marks advances of the work of another great scientist Isaac Newton, and help to inform the science behind many of the technological developments of modern times.
The Occurrence of Microwave
If the microwave absorbed by an object, it will appear warming effect on the object. If the food absorb the microwave radiation, then the food becomes hot in a very short time interval. This process is used in a microwave oven to cook food quickly and economically.
The Applications in Daily Life
1.Warming. We are certainly familiar with the name of a microwave oven that we use in the daily life to heat the food. Microwave oven use microwave in the frequency of about 2.45 GHz
2.TelecommunicationsFor those who love to take advantage of hotspots are certainly familiar with WiFi. And also for those who fond of using bluetooth to transfer files between mobile phones or mobile phone with a computer
3.Radar and navigationRadar also uses microwaves to detect an object. Accordance with its name radio detection and ranging, radar utilizing the wave reflection from the object for detection.
Microwave Oven
a. Radiation WaveMicrowave oven use 2.5 GHz of frequency of the radio waves to heat the food. The wave propagate by radiation.
b. Dielectric HeatingThe phenomenon where radio waves heat the dielectric material
Concept
How A Microwave System Work?
Magnetron that located in the microwave oven emits microwaves in a microwave oven. And forwarded to the stirrer
As the electromagnetic waves, the microwaves that propagate bring enough energy to heat the molecule in the foods.
If the molecule exposed the microwaves, the microwave energy will be absorbed by the molecule so the food could be mature enough in a short time
Reflected to the microwave's wall that made from metal and absorbed by food molecules
The Question Example
How much the frequency and wavelength of the microwaves?
The frequency is 3GHz until 300GHz, while the wavelength is 1mm until 1m
ConclusionMicrowave is one of the
example of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves, which have the wavelength 1m-1 mm with the frequency 3GHz until 300GHz. Widely used in warming, communication systems and radar systems. Where one of the example is the microwave oven.
