Surveillance of injuries: ◆In Japan, there is no national injury surveillance system. Therefore, the municipalities need to develop the

system by their own. In Izumiotsu, the Injury surveillance Committee organizes the system with which

various injury data is collecd from different organizations such as fire department, police office, relevant

administrative divisions in the city office and so on. With the system, the committee identifies the trend of

the injury occurrence and sets up priorities. In addition, the committee provides basic information with

which each taskforce committee develop countermeasures. To understand the injury occurrences from more

comprehensive aspects, the committee is now developing the data collection system with the hospital in the

city.
