Your Classroom in Teams

Each of your class teams has a similar layout,

which you can customise, add files and

resources, and hold conversations with your

students.

Each class is private to those teachers and

students who are members.

Your Classroom

Jump back to view all

your class teams.

Team Channels

Each team can contain several

channels, each with their own

posts and files.

The General channel always

exists and is the only one

which contains assignments

and grades.

Everyone in the class can

access any normal channels.

Private Channel

The padlock means this is

a private channel which is

managed by the teacher.

Private channels are only

visible and accessible by

people that the teacher

permits.

Try… using private

channels to create staff

working areas, or student

breakout rooms.

Posts: Class discussions

and notifications.

Files: You class teaching

resources and files.

Class Notebook: A OneNote notebook

containing a section for each student.

Class Notebook

OneNote Class Notebook

Each class team has its own OneNote Class Notebook setup which

has several useful sections:

• Collaboration Library – both students and teachers can

collaborate and edit pages.

• Content Library – the teacher can add teaching

resources which students can view but cannot edit.

• Teacher Only – an optional section which only the

teacher can access.

• Student section – each student has their own private

section which only they and the teacher can access.

Teacher Note

A teacher needs to access and set up the Class

Notebook before students can access it.

View OneNote Sections

Open in Browser or OneNote App

The Teams OneNote view can be awkward to

use. Break out your Class Notebook into a web

browser or the full OneNote app.

Files Files

Each class team has a Files tab which the teacher can store their

teaching resources in. Unless you choose otherwise, students can

view but can’t edit files stored here.

Sync this Channel’s Files to OneDrive App

If you use the OneDrive app on Windows or Mac, you

can sync your class files to your computer for easier

direct access.

New

Create new documents and folders.

Create a link that you can share with

others.

Add Cloud Storage

If you store teaching resources in a cloud

service such as SharePoint, Google Drive,

or Dropbox, you can create a link to

them here so that you don’t have to

copy everything across to Teams.

Open in SharePoint

Behind each Team is a SharePoint site

which has additional features for you

to take advantage of. You can also sync

the files for every channel in your team

from here.

Upload

Upload files and folders to your class

team.
