Education DevelopmentCentre
Education Development Centre (EDC) is a state
educational institution which provides educational support
for students, teachers and for school.
EDC develops general education curriculum, teacher
training programmes, and implements continuing adult
education, evaluates textbooks and educational tools,
carries out EU Structural Support projects, and successfully
collaborates with teachers of all Subject Associations and
the other social partners.
The main issue e-literacy for all – digital
competence, ICT integration in educational practices. The
emerging technologies – mobile learning devices.

Pilot Projects
• iPad pilot project is being implemented in 3 general
education schools. Powerful apps from the App Store like
iTunes U and iBooks let students engage with content in
interactive ways, find information in an instant, and
access an entire library wherever they go.

• Apple classrooms are operating in 6 schools. Creative
programme iLife lets to do more with photos, movies, and
music, create professional-quality books, letterpress
cards, or more with new versions of iPhoto, iMovie, and
GarageBand.

• iPod Touch Classroom
iPod classroom aims to:
• engage students in learning;
• enhance and individualize instruction;
• increase motivation;
• accommodate multiple learning styles of students.

• INTEL classmate pilot project involved 3 schools in
different parts of Lithuania. This project is meant to help
teachers to become leaders in the transformation of
education around the world. Students are provided with
active learning places where they engage in robust
discussions, pursue investigations, analyse complex
information, and solve problems.
EDC director Giedrius Vaidelis and Vice President of
Intel Corporation for Sales and Marketing Group and
general manager of Intel "World Ahead" John Davies signed
Intel®Teach Essentials Elements License Agreement.

• Samsung Smart Classroom
„Samsung Electronics“ together with Vilnius Jesuit
Gymnasium launched a new project Samsung Smart
Classroom. The first experimental classroom in the Baltic
states equipped with tablets „Galaxy Note 10.1“ was
opened. The aim of the project to bring modern
technologies into the classroom to support and enhance
learning.

Bebras Contest
International Contest on Informatics and Computer Fluency
The main aims of Bebras are:
• to promote interest in Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT).
• to engage children to take an interest in and learn more
about computers and ICT application from the very
beginning at school.
• to use modern technologies learning activities more

An annual exhibition Mokykla is visited by more than 20
thousand people who are interested in education. The
event is highly valued not only by teachers, but also by
business enterprises, parents, and children. Anyone can
find attractive activities which correspond to his / her
needs:
• 60 business enterprises introduce their products for
education;
• 300 interactive learning / teaching sessions;
• different learning spaces provided: Colour classroom,
Number classroom, Students‘ balcony and etc.
Mokykla 2013 is held 06-08 December.

Mobile Device Usage AdvisersEDC is being preparing 35 advisors for Mobile Device (MD)
usage at schools in order to implement another pilot project :
Tablets for the 5th grades.
The advisers are going to :
• help schools to adopt MD;
• give methodological, practical and technical support to
teacher training centres, school communities;
• provide distance consultations to anyone interested in MD
implementation at school;
• there is a bank of educational Apps on EDC website. It is
being constantly updated both by advisers and EDC
community.
