Installation Step 1 Getting Started with Office

SharePoint Server 2007 Installation

Begin installing Office SharePoint Server 2007 Login using the following credentials:

o Username: administrator

o Password: pass@word1o Log on to: LITWAREINC

Double click on the setup.exe executable to begin the installation.

Wait for the Microsoft Software License Terms screen to appear.

Check the I accept the terms of this agreement checkbox, and click on the Continue button.

The Installation Types screen will appear; click the Advanced button to continue.

(Optional) Change the File Location tab to change the installation directory for Office SharePoint

Server 2007.

Select the Complete server type option.

Click the Install Now button to continue.

Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard

This exercise will take you through the initial

configuration of a new SharePoint farm.

Run the configuration wizard.

In Office SharePoint Server 2007, the Central

The SharePoint Products and Technologies

Configuration Wizard leads you through the steps

required to initially configure your Office SharePoint

Server 2007 installation.

Select No, I want to create a new server farm and then click Next.

The Configuration Database Settings page will appear. Fill in the page using the following information

and then click Next:

o Database server: moss

o Database name: SharePoint_Configo Username: LITWAREINC\administrator

o Password: pass@word1

(Note: In a production environment, it is advised to create a different user specifically to

manage the database connections.)

The Central Administration Web Application configuration page will appear.

(Optional) Check the Specify port number box and enter the desired port number.

Click Next to continue.

Exercise 1 Office SharePoint Server 2007 Central Administration The

Home Page

This exercise will highlight the new layout of the Central Administrator site

and the new configuration options that are available.

Administrative Tasks

The Central Administration page in Office SharePoint Server 2007 isin its own site collection. The site has full Windows SharePointServices functionality. It may house documents in a documentlibrary, or have its own lists, events and RSS feeds.

The Central Administration site has 3 major actions available; the firstpart of this exercise will look at the Home section of the CentralAdministration.

The Home tab contains the Administrative Tasks list; this list ispopulated with the tasks that have to be completed to allow OfficeSharePoint Server 2007 to be fully functional.

An administrative task consists of a few major components

o Action: This is a link to the administrative action to be taken

o Description: This is a general description of the purpose of

the task.

o Associated Service: This is a categorization of the Farm

service associated with this task.

Login using the following credentials:

o Username: administrator


o Log on to: LITWAREINC

Open the Central Administration page. If this is not already open, use the

StartAdministrative ToolsSharePoint 3.0 Central Administration

link. Click on the Initial Deployment: Add Servers to Farm task and the

Administrative Tasks display form will appear.

Click Close to return to the Home page.

Farm Topology

The Home tab also contains the Farm Topology Web Part which lists all theservers in the SharePoint farm and the services running on each.

Click on the server name listed in the Farm Topology list and the Serviceson Serverpage will appear.

o The Services on Serverpage allows you to start and stop services

on the servers in the farm from one central location.

The top of the page contains a list of general server roles that might befound in a server farm. When you select a role it will highlight thesuggested services for the role. Select Custom to display the complete list.

For all services marked Required on Farm, not running, click Start

o When prompted for Office SharePoint Server Search settings, use

the following:

This page contains links to pages that help you configure settings forapplications and components that are installed on the server or server farm.

Provisioning a new Web Application

Office SharePoint Server 2007 gives you the option to provision a new web

application from within the Central Administration pages. This allows a

SharePoint administrator to be able to work through the Central

Administration pages without needing to login to the server to make updates.

Click on the Application Management tab.

Click on Create or extend Web application. The Create or Extend Web

Application page should appear.

Click on Create a new Web application. The Create New WebApplication page should appear.

Fill in the Create New Web Application form with the following information:

o IIS Web Site:

Create a new IIS web site

Description: Keep the default value

Port: 80

Host Header: Leave this empty

Path: Keep the defaulto Security Configuration

Authentication Provider: NTLM

Allow Anonymous: No

Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Noo Load Balanced URL

URL: http://moss

Zone: Keep the default value.o Application Pool

Create new application pool

Application pool name: Keep the default value

Select a security account for this application pool:Configurable

Note: In a production environment, creating a separateapplication pool account is recommended.

Click Ok and the Operation in Progress page will appear.

After the operation completes, the Application Created page will appear.

Click on the Create Site Collection link.

Fill in the form with the following information:o Web Application: Keep the default value

Click OK to create your site collection; the Operation in Progress page willappear.

After the operation completes, you will be notified that your top-level sitecollection has been created. Click OK to continue.

Configuring Workflow

Office SharePoint Server 2007 has workflow integrated into the platform.

These settings allow an administrator to control what types of workflows are

allowed.

The Workflow Settings page allows you to determine two major things:

Are user-defined workflows permitted (Ex: SharePoint Designercodeless workflows)

Are users without site access permitted for workflows

The changes made to these settings are global for the selected web

Click on the Workflow settings link at the bottom of the page.

Click Cancel to return to the Application Management page.

Configuring the Shared Service Provider

Click on the Create or configure this farm's shared services link underOffice SharePoint Server Shared Services. The Manage this Farm'sShared Services page appears.

Click New SSP to add a new Service Provider.

Click on the Create a new Web application link.

TheCreate New Web Application page will appear. Fill in the page usingthe following information:o User name: LITWAREINC\administrator


Click the Ok button.

TheCreate New Shared Providerpage will appear. Fill in the page usingthe following information:

o Set the My Site Location: Web Application: to the same value as

SSP name: Web Application)

o Username: LITWAREINC\administrator


Click the OK button. Click OK on the warning page.

After the Shared Provider is created click the OK button.

Click on SharedServices1 in the left navigation

Import People Profiles Click on the User profiles and properties link in the User Profiles and My

Sites section.

Click on the Configure profile import link.

Click on the Ok button. Note that there are additional items for schedulingprofile imports.

Exercise 4 Office SharePoint Server 2007 Central Administration

Operations page

This page contains links to pages that help you manage your server or serverfarm, such as changing the server farm topology, specifying which servicesare running on each server, and changing settings that affect multiple servers

or applications.

Configuring the SharePoint administrators group

Office SharePoint Server 2007 allows the SharePoint administrator to define

a group of administrators that will have access to the SharePoint Farm

administration. This gives the SharePoint administration the ability to ensure

a secure environment and prevent all server administrators from having full

privileges to data contained within a SharePoint site.

Click on the Back to Central Administration link in the left hand navigationto return to the Central Administration site.

Click on the Operations tab from the top navigation. The Operations page

will appear.

Click on the Update farm administrators group link underSecurityConfiguration. The People and Groups: Farm Administrators pageappears.

The Farm Administrators page shows the current membership of the

SharePoint Farm Administrators group. Click New ->Add users.

The Add Users page will appear. Click the browse icon (looks like an openbook) and the Select People and Groups dialog will appear.

Enterphyllis in to the Find field and press Enter.

Double click on Phyllis Harris from the return list, and click OK.

The menu will disappear and the Users/Groups box on the Add Users20

page will be populated with your selection.

Click OK to add this user to the Farm Administrators group.

Click on the Operations tab to return to the Operations page.

Incoming e-mail settings

Office SharePoint Server 2007 allows e-mail to be sent to a SharePoint site

for storage in lists and libraries. This allows SharePoint sites to be used to

archive discussion groups, as well as to provide users a fast and convenientway to share files.

Click on the Incoming e-mail settings link and the Configure Incoming E-

Mail Settings page will appear.

This page allows an administrator to enable or disable incoming e-mail to

SharePoint lists. This setting affects the entire farm, adding or removing theability to enable or disable this at a list, site, or site collection level.

In order to enable incoming e-mail on the farm, select theYes option in theEnable Incoming E-Mail section.

Click OK to save your configuration change.

Enterhttp://moss/ in the Address field in Internet Explorer and press

Enter.

The HOL Install and Config site will appear.

Click on the Announcements link and the Announcements list view pagewill appear.

Click on the SettingsList Settings option and the CustomizeAnnouncements page will appear.

Click on the Incoming e-mail settings link in the Communicationssection. The Incoming E-Mail Settings: Announcements page willappear.

SelectYes forAllow this list to receive e-mail and enterannounce in the

text box under E-mail address.

Choose Accept e-mail messages from any senderin the E-Mail Securitysection.

Click OK to save these changes.

Click on StartAll ProgramsOutlook Express to open the mail client.

Ignore the error message about the missing POP3 server.

Expand Local Folders and click on the Drafts folder.

There will be a draft email in the Drafts folder. Double click on this email

and click the Send button.

Close Outlook Express.

Return to the browser and click on Announcements in the site breadcrumb

to return to the Announcements list. The e-mail may take up to 5 minutes to process. It will be added to the

Announcements list once complete. While waiting you can see the e-mailqueue in C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop. The message has been processedwhen this folder is empty.

Click on Weekly status announcement and notice the text formatting ismaintained.
