Introduction to Micro Focus Connect

Micro Focus Connect is a tool used to synchronize item and relationship data between various Micro Focus change and configuration management systems and other repositories or clients. Once data is synchronized into the system, all of the change management capabilities of the system, including versioning, branching, tracing, labeling, and reporting, are available on that data.

Micro Focus provides a freeentitlement of MF Connect Core toall ALMQC & ALM Octane customers. This allows to integratedifferent endpoints such as Azure DevOps, Atlassian Jira, IBM DOORS, etc. with Micro Focus ALM products.

Consideration priorupgrading to version 4.3

• Stop any connection in MF Connect

• Backup the following

• <INSTALL_DIR>AppData\data\db directory

• <INSTALL_DIR>AppData\data\Connect.xml file

Upgrade to MF Connect 4.3

• To upgrade an existing Installation of MF Connect, download version 4.3 from the marketplace: https://marketplace.microfocus.com/appdelivery/content/micro-focus-connect-core

• Download all connector updates you require for MF Connect also from the marketplace: https://marketplace.microfocus.com/appdelivery/content/micro-focus-connect-connectors

Install MF Connect 4.3 on an existingInstallation

• Run the setup file: mfconnect-4.3.0.19-amq-win64.exe

• The setup will detect the existing installation and will upgrade

• After upgrade process is completed, upgrade the connectors by replacing the old connector jar-files with the 4.3 download jar-files.

Roles and User Access

3 roles have been introduced:

• Site

• Admin

• User

Site – Administrator of the whole MF Connect Site

Admin – Can do everything access promotinghimself to Site

User – Can manage Connections, Datasource & UserMaps

MF Connect 4.3 - Roles

Under the tab USERS, youcan assign users to these 3 roles in MF Connect.

Support of comment sync

Added ability to sync comment style fields for ALM/QC, Atlassian Jira, ALM Octane and AzureDevOps.

MF Connect 4.3 – Map comment fields

ALM Octane Connector

Comment Create, Update & Delete properties have beenadded to the datasource forALM Octane. You can decidewhether a comment can becreated, updated and / ordeleted in ALM Octane

What Else for ALM Octane Connector

Added ability to turn on comment deletion for the Connect API Key.

Improved logging when first discovering which workspaces are accessible.

Improved messaging when ALM Octane returns http 502 and 403 errors.

Fixed issues with Application Modules when syncing multiple workspaces.

Updated 'team' field to be represented as an enum.

Fixed character encoding issues.

Jira Connector

• On the Jira datasource you can now define a defaultlink type, which will be used to associate item

• Types (leave blank for all) - Users can specify the subset of itemTypes by entering a comma delimited string e.g. "Bug, Epic, Task". When a user specifies the subset, Micro Focus Connect will only consider the subset when determining the relationships between itemTypes (improves performance).

ServiceNow ConnectorRestrict types: ServiceNow supports many itemTypes. If this property is true, the connector restricts the itemTypes to a smaller set that was tested. This property value defaults to true.

ALM/QC Connector

Added ability to re-use ALM/QC data source with multiple workspaces.

Added ability to use the ALM/QC as an authenticator for logging in to Micro Focus Connect.

Added support for comment syncing.

Fixed issue when an attachment name contains non-ascii characters.

Updated readme to describe the algorithm used to determine default test/requirement/release folders.

Updated readme to reflect support of ALM 15.

Fixed issue where Requirement Type was a string (now represented as an enum).

Backup DatabaseYou can now backup the database directly from MF Connect.

Micro Focus has improved performance of MF Connect in the following areas:

Command line Client

The following command line client updates are available:

• Added ability to get data sources and connections

• Added ability to automatically trim Jira types based on connections. This improves performance of Jira DataSources and Connections with large amounts of unused types.

• Added ability to use installcert from behind a proxy.

What Else?

Major features include Linux Support, Comments Sync and ALM DataSource reuse.

The ADM Help Site content has also been updated with a number ofnew sections and we'll be continuing to add new content over the next few months.
