Innovation and EducationQuestions to be answered
What is innovation? creating changes.... ... commercialisation of inventions ... impact on society and/or business
What is education? preparing the people that have to do this...
There are Visions that show why innovations are needed in Aviation and Aerospace
the challenges we face.... the changes to be undertaken... Strategic Research Agendas recommend solutions...
Now how can we make it happen? which knowledge and skills do students need to develop?

Vision in EuropeACARE Vision 2020 >> 2050
SRA-1 already stated: “Europe needs an educational system capable of delivering
the required diverse and multi-cultural skilled research workforce”.
ACARE starts preparing an update of its vision 2020 > 2050
Why? Aeronautics and Air Transport represented 1.9% of the jobs
in Europe in 2000, which is expected to grow by up to 3.8 million jobs in 2020.
Impact on people and eduction? Aeronautics has always been inspirational and has attracted
engineers and technicians with the creativity and innovation needed for technological progress
– “job as a mission” People recognise aerospace as one of the major drivers of
the high-skill levels in society

Concluding remarks
EU and NL have a clear vision on the future of aviation and aeronautics
Major challenges are in making it sustainable “green” and seamless “efficient”
National and international co-operation are key to achieve the goals
Education is essential to achieve these challenges: understand the Air Transport System as a whole combine it with deep disciplinary or design knowledge develop excellent communication skills stimulate “job as a mission”
– long-life learning, self-directed or autonomous– in close co-operation with partners
