Statement of Authenticity

I will take with me a sense of personal and professional loyalty, wherever I may go, to my friends, to my customers, to my company, and to the shareholders for whom my decisions may affect. I will strive to take setbacks in stride and keep working toward my goal of becoming a Certified Internal Auditor, so that I might contribute to society and a healthy corporate culture through high standards of accuracy, transparency, and accountability. I will overcome any adversity and work toward the stability in my professional life that will allow me the opportunity to explore and achieve fulfillment in my personal life.

Personal Mission Statement

Hi, my name is Michael, it’s nice to meet you. I recently learned that you may have an accounting position opening soon and I want to tell you why I’m the right person for the job! I’m a recent graduate with a BS in Technical Management with a focus in accounting, so along with a strong understanding of accounting practices, you will also benefit from my extensive management training and my years of military and diverse professional experience. If you’ll grant me an interview I’m sure I can convince you.

Elevator Pitch

I just graduated Magna Cum Laude from DeVry University with a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management with a focus in accounting in January of 2015. The Following slides contain an unofficial copy of my transcripts, to be replaced with my official transcripts once they arrive.

References

In 2000 and 2001 I completed US Navy Boot camp and primary “A” school to earn a rating as a Cryptographic Technician, with a specialization in collection. The training and leadership skills gained in the Navy have been the foundation upon which the rest of my work experience has been based. I have carried these lessons with me as I learned new skills as a bartender, worked retail, as an engraver, as a private security professional, and as a writer, before going back to school to earn a degree, so that I can pursue a career in accounting and / or management.

While I don’t have any professional volunteer or internship experience, I volunteered my days off at the Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless in Arlington, Virginia, and at Crummel Emergency Shelter for men in Washington DC, in 2002 and 2003 to help some of the homeless veterans I met while they tended the monuments in the national mall.

My first goal is to obtain employment that will count towards the work experience requirement for the Certified Public Accountant, and/or the Certified Internal Auditor exam.

My two year goal is to maintain my employment with the company from my first goal and complete the Certified Internal Auditor exam, and/ or the CPA exam (dependent on funds available)

Within five (5) years I want to work as an established accountant or auditor for a company that values loyalty and professionalism
