What is a brand?
The American Marketing Association defines a brand as a name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller's good or service as distinct from those of other sellers.“
A successful brand has to be widely recognised.
We wanted to make a brand that related to our target audience. Ed Sheeran’s target audience is both genders, aged between 15 and 25. This is convenient because it falls into his age category (20).
The demographic group for Ed Sheerans music tends to cover the demographic groups of B1 B2 C1 C2 D and students.
I wanted my brand to become recognisable by creating a star for my product. In order for my brand to reach out and associate with my target audience, I wanted to make my star find common ground with viewers, therefore I dressed him in the fashions of the target audience i.e. Gilet, Converse Shoes, Jeans and a super dry t-shit/hoody.
Constructing a Brand:My music video product is based on that of the singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran used to sleep on sofas every night, moving from city to city performing at gigs – often for free. He has a ‘no thrills’ dress sense and is a stereotypical late teen with untidily kept hair/untrimmed facial stubble.
