President’s Message - Lou Calasibetta, Chapter President
Well, here I am writing this June 21, 2013, otherwise know as the first day of the official Summer. Up
here in the northeastern part of our country, we have not had a great Spring but with a lot of rain and gloomy
days in the past few weeks. Now today the sun popped out and all was forgotten.
To tell you all the truth, we are about three weeks from the Dayton convention. As usual, I am not
prepared for the event. There are just so many hours in the week and for some unknown reason, the days just
fly by really quickly.
I had the pleasure of hosting a car breakfast this May and it was a good time for those that attended.
The Garden State Pontiacs chapter had a bunch of their members show up. Also, there was a variety of rods and
customs of other makes. In early June, I went to the East Coast NSRA event in York, Pennsylvania. I took my
1951 Mercury Woodie there. Had a nice time at this one, too. There were about 3500 rides in total. Also went
to a custom show in Gettysburg. I met with a man from Maryland that just finished a custom GMC pickup. I
hope to send in an article to Alan on this pickup in the near future.
This year, I registered a 1957 Safari for the POCI Co-Vention. It will be entered in the Popular Vote class.
For some reason there is much less stress in the Popular area than in the Judged area. Hey, I am for them both;
there is room for both at such a convention.
Folks, remember we are having a meeting and lunch at the Quaker Steak café on Thursday morning. It is
nice to break bread with the members and have an open meeting. Hope all of you can join us for the food and
friendship. Did you ever realize that the convention is the only time of the year that some of us see one
another? It’s sort of like a high school reunion.
See you in Ohio.

Street Rod & Modified Chapter Annual Meeting
Our annual meeting will be held during the Co-Vention at Quaker Steak & Lube (just down the
street from the Holiday Inn), on Thursday, July 11, from 11:00 AM-12 noon. Assemble in front
of Holiday Inn Fairborn (host hotel) at 11:00 and we'll cruise there together. We'll grab a bite
before it gets the noon crowd, and have a short meeting towards the end.

The Michael Dingman Collection Photos by Charlie Huntington
In June of 2012, Charlie Huntington attended the auction of the Micheal Dingman collection of neon signs and
other memorabilia, along with over 50 cars. Here are a few pictures of the collection. Don’t drool on the paper, OK?
