The MICA Series is a range of UMTS / LTE routers enabling mobile broadband and machine to machine (M2M) industrial communication.

This document is aimed at providing guidance when configuring and using the MICA Series router software.

Configuration of the MICA Series router can be done via the web using any of the following: Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome. Throughout this document, Internet Explorer 9.0 is used as the example browser.

General DescriptionThe Siretta MICA router series is a range of high speed industrial cellular routers in a compact enclosure. The MICA series is offered in 3G / WCDMA/UMTS and 4G / LTE forms giving reliable, secure and high speed wireless connectivity.

The MICA router range has a number of standard options, such as Wifi, GPS, 1xWAN + 1xLAN interface etc. Additionally MICA routers are available, as standard with or without an accessory kit comprising: Wifi + GSM antennas, PSU and LAN cable.

VPN features can also be configured in the MICA routers, enabling utilization of a virtual private network service through a 3G wireless router designed for the stresses and workload of a modern industrial or commercial environment.

The MICA router series is a high build quality range of routers designed for use in industrial environments needing high performance and a robust hard enclosure as standard. The MICA range is designed for remote management, telemetry, condition monitoring, CCTV, ATMs, vending machine and other M2M applications.

Its compact small size design, enables the MICA Router to easily be embedded into other equipment or systems. With the GPS option, the MICA router is ideal for fleet tracking or access management.

Local ConfigurationThe MICA Series router supports configuration by local Ethernet port, you can specify a static IP or DHCP get IP for your computer.

Default IP address: 192.168.1.1 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Follow the steps below to configure your router locally:

Step 1. Click “Start > Control Panel”, find the “Network Connections” icon and double click it to enter. Select “Local Area Connection” corresponding to the network card. (See figure 1 below)

3 Router Configuration

This Chapter introduces the parameter configuration of the router, the router can be configured via web internet explorer, Firefox, or chrome. Here we take GUIs 7 system and Internet Explorer 9.0 as sample.

3.1 Local Configure The router supports to be configured by local Ethernet port, you could specify a static IP or DHCP get IP for your computer. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1,subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, please refer to followings:

Step 1 Click “start > control panel”, find “Network Connections” icon and double click it to enter, select “Local Area Connection” corresponding to the network card on this page. Refer to the figure below.

Step 2 Obtain a IP address automatically or set up IP address,192.168.1.xxx(XXX can be any number between 2~254)

Step 3 Run an Internet Explorer and visit “http://192.168.1.1/”, to enter identify page.

3.2 Basic Configuration

Different software version have different web configuration interface, here take R210 2.6.0.1 version as example. After visit the WEB interface, you can check the current status of Router, or modify router configuration via web interface, below is the introduction for the common setting.

Basic ConfigurationDifferent software versions have different web configuration interfaces, in this example we use version 2.6.0.

After visiting the web interface, you can check the current status of the router or modify the router configuration via the web interface. Below is the interface displaying the routers standard settings.

Step 1. Select “Basic Network > Cellular” here you can modify cellular and SIM parameters according to your application.

ICMP check To enable or disable ICMP check rules. Enable the ICMP check and setup a reachable IP address as destination IP. Once ICMP check failed, router will switch SIM card.

ICMP Check

Enabling ICMP on the router will automatically check whether the defined IP address is reachable every 60s. If the IP address is unreachable and ICMP check is timed out at the first check, it will make two further attempts at 3s intervals. If the IP address is still unreachable after the third attempt the router will implement the configured fail action.

The Check IP is a public IP or company server IP address.

Check mode: There are Rx(Receive), Tx(Transmission) and Rx/Tx check modes.

RX: The router will check the 3G/LTE cellular receiver traffic. If no traffic is received within the defined check interval, the router will implement the configured fail action - reconnect or reboot.

SIM Mode

Fail over (2 SIMs): SIM card mutual backup. Once SIM 1 fails, it will switch to SIM 2 and work on SIM 2. Once SIM 2 fails, it will switch back to SIM 1.

Dynamic DNS Settings

Step 1. Select “Basic Network > DDNS” to enter the DDNS settings page.

Auto refresh time Set the interval refresh of the DDNS client to 240s or above

Routing Settings

Step 1. Select the tick box of the DI port you want to configure.

Parameter Instruction

EnableEnables DI. Port1 is for I/O1 and Port2 is I/O2. Both I/O1 and I/O2 are DI ports

Mode

OFF, ON and EVENT_COUNTER modes.

OFF Mode: When I/O connects to GND, it will trigger alarm.

ON Mode: When I/O does not connect to GND, it will trigger alarm.

EVENT_COUNTER Mode: Enter EVENT_COUNTER mode.

Filter

Software filtering is used to control switch bounces. Input (1~100)*100ms. In ON and OFF modes, the router detects pulse signal and compares with first pulse shape and last pulse shape. If both are the same level, the router will trigger alarm.

In EVENT_COUNTER mode, if first pulse and last pulse are not the same level, the router will trigger alarm according to counter active setting.

Parameter Instruction

Counter Trigger

Available when DI is in Event Counter mode. Input from 0 to 100. (0=will not trigger alarm) Alarm will trigger when counter reaches this value. After alarm trigger, the DI will continue counting but there will not be another trigger alarm.

Counter PeriodAvailable when DI is in Event Counter mode. Time in ms the counter is active for.

Counter RecoverAvailable when DI is in Event Counter mode. Time to recover after trigger alarm. The value is 0~30000(*100ms). 0 means no counter.

Counter Action

HI_TO_LO and LO_TO_HI is available when DI is in Event Counter mode.

The channel accepts limit or proximity switches and counts events according to the ON/OFF status. When LO_TO_HI is selected, the counter value increases when the attached switch is pushed. When HI_TO_LO is selected, the counter value increases when the switch is pushed and released.

Counter StartAvailable when DI is in Event Counter mode. Starts counting when this feature is enabled.

SMS AlarmThe alarm SMS will be sent to specified phone group. Each phone group include up to 2 phone numbers.

SMS Content 70 ASCII characters max

Number 1 SMS receiver phone number.

Number 2 SMS receiver phone number.

Alarm Source

DO initiates according to selected alarm source (DI Alarm, SMS Control and M2M Control.) One or more can be selected.

DI Alarm: DO triggers the related action when there is alarm from DO

SMS Control: DO triggers the related action when receiving SMS from the number in phone book.

M2M Control: it’s not ready.

Alarm Action

Action alarms can either be “OFF”, “ON”, “Pulse”.

Low

Available when DI Alarm action is set to Pulse. In Pulse Output mode, the selected DO channel will generate a square wave as specified in the pulse mode parameters. The low level widths are specified here.Input from 1 to 30000 ms.

3.7.1 Logs Setting Step 1 Please click “Debugging>Logs” to check and modify relevant parameter.

Step 1. Select “Administrator > Reboot” to reboot the router. A popup will appear, prompting ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ to continue with the reboot.

Step 2: If you select ‘YES’, the system will reboot. All relevant firmware upgrades will be effective after the reboot.

To restore the routers factory settings, press and hold the reset button on the router located near the power connector. Press and hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds, this can be done when the router is either in use or turned on. Reset is successful when the NET light stops blinking. The router will now be restored to factory settings.
