AirportMiami International Airport (MIA) is one ofthe busiest airports in the world and islocated 14 kilometres northwest of Miami.Taxis are available just outside thebaggage claim and there is also a 24-hour‘Super Shuttle’ van service availableoutside the baggage claim. Bus serviceslink the airport to all areas of Miami-DadeCounty. The ‘Tri-Rail’ train can be reachedon the Airport Station just east of theairport. It is worth asking your hotelbeforehand if they offer shuttle servicefrom and to the airport. An Info-Centre canbe found on level 2 in Concourse E in theairport, which also hosts a bank, postoffice, pharmacy, baggage storage, ATM’sfor cash withdrawal as well as several carrental companies.

Fort Lauderdale Airport (FFL) is located 40kilometres from downtown Miami. Feederbusses take you from the airport terminalsto the Tri-Rail commuter train to Miami.Yellow Cab taxis are available on demandat all times at the airport. Public TransportAs in many cities across the United States,car is by far the main mode of transport.However, Miami still has a lot to offer onthe public transport side.

The Metromover is an excellent way ofmoving around in downtown Miami – it isfor free and runs from 5am until 12pmevery day.

Metrorail runs from the north to the southof Miami across downtown. The serviceruns every day from 5am until 12pm andthe fare is $2.

The Metrobus service covers all of theGreater Miami area also at a fare of $2.Most busses operate all week between 4amand 2am while some operate around theclock. Fares can be paid with small changeeither on board the bus or before enteringthe Metrorail. Otherwise tokens to be usedon both services can be bought in certainspecified outlets across the city.

The South Beach Local is the cheapest andmost scenic way to travel along SouthBeach. The shuttle comes by numerousbus stops every 10-15 minutes and thefare is 25 cents. It operates on Monday toSaturday between 7.45am and 1am, andon Sundays from 10am to 1am.
