Enterprising Initiative 4th ESO 2013 Extraordinary Project Multiple Intelligences

BY: ALAZNE RODRIGO GARCA

0. Go to the web page and sit the test about your Multiple Intelligences. Later keep a record of everything and get your results prepared. As you will have to write about them.

1. Start looking for information for about 5 minutes to write about the traditional definitions of intelligence.

INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence has been defined in many different ways including, but not limited to,abstract thought, understanding, self- awareness, communication, reasoning, learning, having emotional knowledge, retaining, planning, and problem solving.

There are three groups of intelligences: the psychological, biological, and the operational.

Characteristics of artificial intelligence are the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend ideas and language, and learn.

In our society be intelligent means to know Act and resolve situations of life. It is very smart to you whenever it makes decisions is victorious in them.

The intelligence of a person is measured with tests or tests that give as a result a number called IQ or coefficient intellectual.

2. Howard Gardner's theory using the Classroom Activity Sheet: Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Read the descriptions of different intelligences. Which of these intelligences you think are most valued by schools and society. Is it possible for an individual to have more than one intelligence?

In my opinion, the intelligence to which more importance teachers give is logical mathematics. I think this, because it is very important to make calculations and handle numbers with precision for all.

Gardner states that most people have at least seven of these intelligences, but that in some people one intelligence may dominate, and in other people the intelligences blend. That is why I believe that it is possible that a person has more than one intelligence.

3.Short Biographies of Eminent People. Read through the biographies and determine the types of intelligences manifested by each person. If you have trouble, consider what value the intelligences of these people have in society. You might also consider how these intelligences match traditional ideas about intelligence.

Michael Jordan, highlighted with his bodily kinesthetic intelligence

Mohandas Gandhi, highlighted with his interpersonal intelligence.

Charles Darwin, highlighted with his naturalist intelligence.

4.Writing. Do these people fit the traditional definition of intelligence? Point out that Gardner's multiple intelligences do not necessarily fit those traditional definitions. Think about of any other people that you consider intelligent who do not fit the traditional definition. Finally think if you have changed your ideas about intelligence. If so, how?

No, because they have specific skills and are very intelligent men. They are not clever simply by the capacity to learn, reason, and understand and the demonstration of such capacity.

The scientist Albert Einstein. It has the logical-mathematical intelligence, with which It solves problems remarkably fast.

Yes, I now have come to realize that intelligence, is not only know to demonstrate that we have the able to learn, understanding and reasoning. Now I know that we all have some specific intelligence, and that depends on the person can dominate a very well or have multiple mixed.

5.Writing discuss the following questions. If schools recognized multiple intelligences, how might the following activities be revised?

a. activities in the classroom : The musical intelligence and bodily kinesthetic intelligence.

b. classroom assignments : The intrapersonal intelligence and Interpersonal intelligence.

c. graduation requirements : The linguistic intelligence and logical-mathematical intelligence, spatial intelligence and Naturalist intelligence.

A Personal Look at Multiple Intelligences .

* Traditionally, people have defined someone who is intelligent as an individual who can solve problems, use logic to answer questions, and think critically. But psychologist Howard Gardner has a much broader definition of intelligence. Compare the traditional idea about intelligence with Gardner's. How have his ideas changed the way we assess the strengths and weaknesses of people?

The biggest change is to discover the intelligence of a person, not only have to look at what you see from a point of view, because discover an intelligence must make deep studies in the minds of the people.

* Why are linguistic intelligence, emphasizing sensitivity to the meaning and order of words, and logical mathematical intelligence, stressing ability in mathematics and other complex logical systems, more valued than other intelligences? Are they really more important forms of intelligence?

It depends on what interests you. If you want to be or know about a subject in which missing calculate and manipulate numbers, or learn to speak and write well in different languages, it is valuable to note in these intelligences. I think that most people think that these are the most valuable intelligence, because it is necessary for the vast majority of things and racing know about these issues. But if you're not interested in anything that has to do with that and Excel in other intelligence that it serves you to what you want, it may be more valuable than the logical-mathematical intelligence or linguistic intelligence.

* One criticism of Gardner's theory is that he classifies talents as a type of intelligence. Critics might say that a talented dancer or chess player is not necessarily smart. How would you reply to this criticism?

Would ask them has see if they know what it means to be smart. Then explain them as we all have some intelligence, and that those persons if they are doing something, it is because they have one or more perfectly dominated intelligences.

* Does it matter if we call special abilities "talents" or "intelligences"?

To me, not me matter, but it can be that it matter any critical or fussy person.

* Gardner suggests that schools must develop assessments that better represent what people will have to do to survive in society. For example, rather than writing an essay about urban development, students studying structures might be assessed in their group work determining what kind of building is most appropriate for an urban, residential area. Give an example of an assessment that could be used to evaluate what students learn about the civil rights movement or the deforestation of rain forests. How does an understanding of multiple intelligences change how you view your own abilities?

I see that it is good to know that there are multiple intelligences to think more in which each can have, and get them out throughout our lives. Studying each of the intelligences that exist we can realize that mastered any of them. I currently do not command any of multiple intelligences, and I think I'm of those people who have any mixed multiple intelligence.

Extensions

The Origin of Multiple Intelligences Theory Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences has been evolving since 1983, when he proposed it. Have you research how his theory has evolved since then. For example, have the number of intelligences changed? Have Gardner's ideas about how to implement his ideas in educational settings evolved?

Howard Gardner in 1983 released a book with the theory of multiple intelligences. In 1997 he reformed it with the book of the Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century. In 1997, Perry D. Klein criticized the theory of Gardner in a Canadian magazine by multiplying the problems of intelligence by eight. And finally in 1998, Perry D. Klein again spoke in Canadian Journal of education the false evidence and pedagogical usefulness in educational psychology from Gardner.

On the other hand, Armstrong, in his book multiple intelligences in the classroom, It shows a way to plan and carry out classes on the basis of IM, proposes various exercises, models of classes and an excellent information to help the teacher. The number of multiple intelligences has not changed since Howard Gardner took out them.

Several people have written about multiple intelligences throughout the years:

ARMSTRONG, Thomasas he wrote multiple intelligences in the classroom in the year 1999

BORSANI, Mara Jos he wrote the curricular adjustments in 2001.

CRESPO ALLENDE, nina he wrote multiple intelligences and learning, and doctoral thesis in Linguistics in 2001.

GARDNER, Howard also he wrote the structures of the mind in 1994.

LPEZ PREZ, Ricardo he wrote in one magazzine en una revista about multiple intelligence in 1998 .

Design a New School Based on what you have learned about the theory of multiple intelligences, have them design a school that makes use of these theories. Have you consider the layout of the school, how students are grouped, how the main subjects are taught and assessed, and the strengths the teaching staff should have. Sketch the school and write a paragraph describing it .

In the college San Juan Marselianous of Arrigorriaga, takes place a method that students work their minds. Is made at the beginning of the course a test of intelligence so everyone knows their abilities and weaknesses. In this way they can enhance their intelligence. The teachers group students when working in an equitable manner. So they can help to enhance each of the intelligences. Not only work is done in the classroom, also in places on who students can be inspired. You consider the intelligence of each to do different activities.
