Any subsequent models shall be reassessed for further Type Approval prior to use in the MTM rail network.2) Installers, maintainers and operators shall be cognisant of the safety warnings and pinch points of the TD84M Mk3 point machine, as contained in the Siemens Installation, Adjustments and Maintenance Guide [Appendix E, Doc 007].3) The TD84M Mk3 point machine shall be installed with a facing point lock (i.e. claw lock). 4) The switch blades shall be independent, that is, not connected to each other by spreaders (stretchers) or restrained by any mechanism other than the TD84M Mk3 point machine.5) The locking mechanism shall be designed for trail movements and allow independent blade movement sufficient to allow the closed blade to be unlocked prior to excessive flanging of the closed blade.6) A fixed label identifying that the point machine is a trailable type shall be visible to operators and maintainers.7) A fixed label identifying that the point machine must not be trailed when in hand shall be externally visible to operators and maintainers.8) MTM shall ensure that specific training for trailable point machines is added to the D84M point machine training procedure. The training procedure shall include inspections for wear and damage, lubrication, set up, adjustment and manual throw of points to check for binding in the turnout.9) MTM shall ensure that yard masters, shunters and maintainers are trained to always put the point machine back into motor after being in hand, and to always inspect the route prior to allowing moves.10) MTM should install signage on the relevant DOCU to advise drivers to fully complete moves where points are trailed. This mitigates the risk of trains setting back while points are disarranged.11) MTM should consider installing automatic rail lubricators in areas where TD84M Mk3 point machines are installed. 12) Installers shall test each specific turnout configuration by trail through tests (normal to reverse and reverse to normal).13) Installers shall ensure that the track gauge is within a tolerance consistent with an unlocking operation that does not place excessive flanging on the closed blade. Excessive over gauge of the rails will increase the distance of wheel set travel through the turnout before the unlocking stroke is completed and the closed blade released, leading to stress on both the blade and locking mechanism. 14) The turnout should be plated through both blades if on timber or other flexible bearers to minimise the potential to place a force on the lock and closed blade during trailing.15) For ideal operation, installers shall ensure that there is zero or minimal blade tension present. Excessive tension impacts on the lock retention in certain circumstances.16) Projects and maintainers shall ensure correct clutch spring is ordered for the turnout. The standard TD84M Mk3 point machine is fitted by Siemens with the “high” trail setting clutch spring (part number 4177300901), which provides a nominal 6 kN trail force.17) Testing of the claw lock mechanism for a turnout should be conducted with the TD84M Mk3 point machine in hand operation. This is recommended to prevent compromising the service life of the clutch by avoiding prolonged slippage during testing18) MTM should update their maintenance procedures for the use of trailable machines. In particular all areas around the blades need to be kept clean.19) Projects shall ensure that the lock interference on both the Normal and Reverse side are adjusted to the same or similar values for the points to be trailed reliably

A register of all sites shall be maintained during the trial period. During regular maintenance inspections, particular attention shall be paid to track gauge, lock spike and screw spike tension. And any other factors relating to movement on the sleeper of the rail or the plate. Any discrepencies observed shall be reported to the Track Delivery Manager. Prior to the expiry date for this TA, a thorough examination of all installation locations is to be undertaken. Particular attention shall be paid to the aforementioned factors, and photographs shall be taken to compare the before and after results, to determine the success or otherwise of the trial. ID to use the manufacturers guidelines as an interim procedure and ID to develop a detailed procedure that must be finalised after the successful completion of the trial period and confirmation by visual inspection that fastenings are holding and there is no movement under the train load.

The unit must always be installed with the AEG proprietary LBS included. This will likely impact on the firmware and software versions provided by AEG.

The configuration of the plinth system shall allow for placement of signalling equipment to MTM standards and Standard plans, with capture of infrastructure requirements for access and egress to that equipment. The Syfonic Roof Drainage System was initially accepted for use at Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Clayton and Noble Park Stations only. This revised approval aims to extend the approval to other sites. The design and installation of the system will take into consideration maintainability (e.g. service life, non-proprietary components, removal of blockages), specific design (e.g. pipe run lengths, number of bends, access to undertake repairs) and suitability based on location (e.g. potential for obstruction due to leaf litter).

-An Operation and Maintenance Manual for the roof drainage system is to be provided. The Manual must detail equivalent products that are freely available from alternative suppliers for all components including pipework, bracketry, inlets, debris guards and first flush valves. It must also include work instructions for repairs to the system and DMS compliant drawings that describe the system.-The preferred supplier for the inlet valve (SS01) is Syfon Systems, 22 Hargreaves St, Huntingdale, Victoria, 3166.However similar or equal designs shall also be considered based on evidence of satisfactory performance such as good project references.-The design life of the product is to be as per Australian Standards.-The warranty is to state that the supplier/manufacturer will continue to warrant the system following repairs, provided these are carried out by a qualified plumber following the work instructions detailed in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. The warranty will note that repairs are to be warranted by the repairing contractor.-Overflow protection is to be provided using a conventional (non-siphonic) system.-The pipes must be accessible to ensure blockages can be removed if needed.-If frequent OR biannual maintenance inspections are required, engineering controls such as handrails for fall protection shall be installed to enable access without a safety harness.-Noise levels during operation of the system shall not have a significant adverse effect on PA audibility. An acoustic assessment to demonstrate that the system will not cause adverse impacts to noise sensitive receivers including staff and customers on the platform and nearby residents is to be provided. -Leaf/debris guards to be installed at the inlets to minimise the likelihood of blockages in the gutters impeding the performance of the system. In bushfire prone areas, the design and construction of the system shall comply with AS 3959 – 2009 Construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas.-Acoustic lagging (Soundlag 4525C or approved equivalent) to be provided to pipework in noise sensitive areas such as staff areas or station waiting rooms.-HDPE pipework to be shrouded from direct sunlight.-Purpose designed rail and bracketing system to be used to support the pipe to ensure its structural integrity and minimise vibration problems. Installation to be carried out by fully licensed and experienced plumbers trained in the requirements of siphonic roof drainage and HDPE welding techniques.

The WCH Series 3590 Boom Mechanism operates level crossing boom arms and is used extensively in the United States, with Sydney Trains, in the ARTC Network, TasRail and with CRN.The mechanism was first installed in NSW in 1975 and there have been no changes to the design or with manufacturing since then. The mechanism has a proven record of reliability and ease of maintenance in the ARTC Network.

Installation at other locations shall be subject to approval, which will take into consideration access provisions for maintenance and repairs including ability to paint over in the event of scratching using a paint roller and a standard Dulux paint colour and product, whether the placement of the product within the design is vulnerable to vandalism, and whether the colour, placement and gloss level of the product will cause signal sighting, glare or reflectivity problems for train drivers. The design life of fixings is to exceed the design life of the cladding by a minimum of 25%. Details of fixings must be included in architectural drawings for prior review and acceptance by MTM Engineering and included in the DMS compliant drawing set submitted at as-built stage.

ShapeShift shall provide an Operation and Maintenance Manual for ShapeShell cladding. The Manual shall include work instructions for repairs to the system and detail equivalent products that are freely available from alternative suppliers for all repairs. Shop drawings for moulds are to be supplied in the Operation and Maintenance manual and ShapeShift must agree to provide MTM with design IP licence/s to enable procurement from an alternative supplier in the event that ShapeShift cease to trade.

ShapeShift is to provide a 50 year warranty for the product substrate and a 25 year warranty for the surface finish including colour and gloss retention. The warranty will state that ShapeShift will continue to warrant the system following repairs, provided these are carried out by a qualified repairer following the work instructions and using equivalent products detailed in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. The warranty may note that repairs are to be warranted by the repairing contractor.

ShapeShell does not meet the requirements of MTM DPN L1-CHE-INS-025. A Fire Engineering Report shall provide to support a conclusion that the material does not present a risk in the application and location proposed by the design. An independent third party assessment shall provide to support a conclusion that appropriate fire testing data has been presented and that it is comparable to the application and location proposed by the design.
