    Product

    Brief

The OptiX Metro6100/6040 is a WDM product series

specially designed for service providers who require a

flexible and cost-effective system which will multiplex,

transport and switch high-speed data, storage, video,

and voice services. Service providers deploy the

Metro6100/6040 to maximize the bandwidth and

service flexibility of their metropolitan area networks,

while supporting new revenue opportunities of high-

speed LAN and SAN services. The Metro6100/6040

provides a uniform, cost effective and manageable

platform to support multi-services, multiple network

topologies, and transparency protocols in metro and

    regional networks.

According to customer requirements, the Metro 6100

can provide both DWDM and/or CWDM interfaces. The

capacity of Metro 6100 DWDM system could reach to

400G. The Metro 6100 CWDM system can support up

to 8 wavelengths (compatible with ITU-T G.694.2 grid).

The OptiX Metro6100 supports all conceivable

    networking applications, including point-to-point, linear

and ring, and therefore is quite suitable for intercity/

metro core network. It may also cooperate with the

Metro 6040 to offer a total solution for Metro Network.

    Metro 6040

The Metro 6040 is a cost-effective and compact C/DWDM equipment. One shelf delivers 4

protected wavelengths of DWDM service and also supports CWDM applications.

Compared with the Metro6100/6040 DWDM system, the CWDM system of Metro6100/6040

could save the network cost. It is suitable for applications of short distance, a few wavelengths,

high bandwidth, and dense access points.

Flexible configuration, smooth upgrade and expansion

The Metro6100/6040 adds/drops service through optical terminal multiplexer and optical add/

drop multiplexer nodes. The capacity expansion is flexible and convenient:

Modular design to minimize initial investment.

Each node can upgrade from 1 wavelength to 40 smoothly

    Reconfigurable OADM (Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer)

    Supports remote software configuration

    Offers 100% wavelength add/drop and pass-through capability

In-service upgrade and expansion without interruption to other services

    Integrated optical wavelength equalization capability.

Low-speed service aggregation and hybrid transport

The Metro6100/6040 includes several sub-rate multiplexers that help service providers save

bandwidth and provides cost-efficient transport for low rate traffic by reducing the optical channels.

Provide differentiated services rapidly and cost-effectively

Multiple transponders are available for various applications. Combine different service types

into one single 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps wavelength

Higher wavelength utilization, optimize board types.

    Multi-rate, multi-service, multi-protocol access capability

    Functions &Features

The Metro6100/6040 can transparent transit full range of service interfaces from 16Mbit/s to 10Gbit/

s and support all protocols, including STM-1/4/16/64, OC-3/12/48/192, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit

Ethernet, 10GE LAN, ATM, ESCON, FICON, Fiber Channel and Video services.

    What is GE-ADM?

    GE-ADM

    Solution

GE-ADM is a unique innovative solution of Huawei, aiming at optimized GE transport over WDM

for Metro network. GE-ADM based on DWDM platform combines the advantages of DWDM

networks capacity (40*10G) and SDH-alike networks flexibility. It offers GE aggregation and

grooming with lower cost. The GE-ADM solution supports sub-wavelength cross-connectivity and

provides flexibility at the sub-wavelength level similar to that provided by SONET/SDH ADM.

    High wavelength efficiency

Up to 4XGE into one single wavelength at 5Gbps

Up to 8XGE into one single wavelength at 10Gbps

    Flexible and Perfect Protections

Using GE-ADM, the protection scheme such as GE-path share protection ring, GE-MS share

protection ring, GE DNI between rings can be implemented. GE ADM gives more choices to the

GE protection in Metro WDM solution.

Reconfigurable networks, sub-lambda cross-connection and grooming

Automatic end-to-end configuration and intelligent management

Adding and removing sudden services timely, without any impact to other services.

    End-to-End GE provision

Traditional WDM provide point to point multiplex and fixed configuration (installing back- to- back

terminals at intermediate sites; manually jumper pass-through channels, difficult maintenance).

GE ADM solution provides end to end multiplex. Utilizing the spare GE path, you can provide end

    to end service quickly.

    Supervisory

    Channel

Supervisory channel of the Metro6100/ 6040 can be Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) or Electric

Supervisory Channel (ESC). OSC/ESC and NM software allow remote system operation and service

provision from any node on the network.

Choosing ESC could save some optical supervisory channel units. In this mode, the optical

transponder unit (OTU) multiplexes the supervisory information into the service channel for

transmission.ESC mode can reduce complexity and improve system power budget, it is a cost-

    effective and reliable solution.
