Footy show causes furore:
24/7 Cycling Safety Fund:
What a huge success yet again! A record 1,498 runners
competed in the 5km, 10km and Half Marathon events. Ben
Maccronan took out the Half, with Jamie Simmonds and Paul Dodd
finishing second and third. In the women’s, Clare Geraghty crossed
the line first, followed by Roxie Fraser and Clare Durrant.
What an amazing year to be a Queenslander, first
the nation witnessed the amazing community spirit that united the
state and communities through the floods and cyclone, and now we
have just finished celebrating our fourth major sporting achievement
for the year. First it was the Brisbane Roar, who created Soccer history
with a 28 game winning streak, then the Firebirds created netball
history winning their premiership undefeated, Queensland chalked
up a sixth straight origin series and finally the Queensland Reds have
won their first ever Super Rugby championship! Could the Broncos
win the NRL premiership to cap off the year?
Channel 9 bosses have moved quickly to
make amends for the damage caused by the derogatory slurs about
Ipswich on their NRL “Footy Show’. Mayor Paul Pisasale was outraged
over comments that he labelled “offensive to the women of Ipswich
and demeaned the city and the game”. He said Ipswich could take
a joke but the offending piece “was not funny”.
A trust has been set up to raise money to
build a safe cycling facility in Ipswich, following the death of local
Ipswich cyclist Narelle Dobinson. Her death was the second in a short
time for the Ipswich cycling community. For more information or to
make a donation go to yellowjersey.com.au.

Carbon Tax Update:
Google +:
Emotional Happiness:
With increasing economic jitters there has been
renewed calls from industry groups to scrap the controversial Carbon
Tax. The tax is due to be implemented on July 1st next year, and
according to the Government “fundamental reforms like pricing
carbon are essential to strong economic growth into the future
essential business investment and strong growth”. Despite the extra
financial burden of the proposed Carbon Tax, the Government says
it will provide other tax cuts, increases in family payments, higher
pensions and other benefits to assist households. To have your say on
the ‘Clean Energy Legislative Package’, go to the Department of
Climate Change and Smart Energy website!
Google + is the fastest growing social networking site,
growing much more rapidly than Facebook, Myspace and Twitter
did in their early days, according to technology experts. But whether
it can pose a serious threat to Facebook, which currently has 750
million members, remains to be seen. Google + which was launched
by the internet search and advertising giant on June 28, had 25
million visitors in its first month.
A new study has found craving fatty food is
linked to our emotions, that is why when you have a crappy day you
crave a pizza and chocolate! So don’t feel bad!

CCTV Thief:
Chocoholic fish:
Sheep, Goat or Geep?:
Nothing makes the police’s job easier than a CCTV close
up of a criminal. And that’s exactly what one thief did when he
broke into a boat yard to steal a dinghy. The man climbed up a pole
that supported the yard’s security camera to disable the device, but
in doing so got his whole face on camera.
Staff at a London Aquarium have managed to
wean a chocoholic fish raised on Kit Kats onto a healthier diet. Staff
at the Aquarium initially could not understand why ’Gary’, an
inherited 4 kilogram, 40cm Gourami, refused to eat. They later
discovered he had been fed on nothing but chocolate by his
previous owners.
A farm on NSW’s Central
Coast is the proud carer of the unusual animal born
earlier this month. The Geep is born of a Ewe, but is
a throw back from its father that has Goat Genes.
It sounds bizarre but this unusual animal is officially
known as a geep.

FIT TIPS FOR HEALTHY ME
1. Don’t be too hard on yourself,
sometimes it all comes down to genetics, some
people are prone to put on weight in certain
areas!
2. Shrinking your
stomach will depend on lots of cardiovascular
exercise including running, swimming and
cycling, which will help burn fat all over your body.
3. The road to reducing your muffin top doesn’t
mean hours in the gym, breaking up training into shorter, intense
sessions are great for fat burning.
4. Doing regular core muscle exercises or a regular
yoga class, will tighten and tone stomach area and keep muffin tops
at bay.
5. A well balanced diet, full of lean meat,
fish and cartloads of fruit and vegies will make your job easier. Try to
avoid anything high in sugar and fat and anything processed.
6. Make a schedule at the start of
the week and stick to it.
Genetics:
Don’t just target your stomach:
Shorter sessions:
Strengthen Core:
It’s not just about exercise:
Make it part of your daily routine:

WEIRD NEWS
DID YOU KNOW?
FUNNY BONEI was on the subway, sitting on a newspaper, and a guy comes overand asks "Are you reading that?" I didn’t know what to say. So I saidyes. I stood up, turned the page, and sat down again.
A guy shows up late for work. The boss yells "You should have beenhere at 8:30!" he replies: "Why? What happened at 8:30?”
My grandfather always said, "Don't watch your money; watch yourhealth." So one day while I was watching my health, someone stolemy money. It was my grandfather.
