Metford Public School

Welcome to week 3, which promises to be another busy week of learning and
shared experiences for our students, We kicked off on Monday with a privileged
opportunity to participate in a Halloween project with Zac, who is an artist from
the Newcastle theatre company Curious Legends. All students thoroughly enjoyed
being a part of a Halloween soundscape experience, where they recorded sounds
that will be used as part of a Halloween performance in Coffin Lane. This
experience provided a wonderful chance to extend student learning in Creative
and Practical Arts. On Tuesday we participated in another curricular opportunity in
the World Of Maths Expo, which was an excellent, engaging hands on Maths
experience.
Last week I mentioned that our staff has already begun preparing the MPS new
school plan for 2018. Our first priority to creating this new plan was to very closely
analyse and discuss all of the school surveys that were recently completed by our
community, staff and students. Next we will create our school vision, purpose and
projects, which will reflect the needs of our school community.
Over the last two weeks we have stepped up preparations with our PUPs children,
where they have been visiting our current Kindergarten classrooms to engage in
shared play opportunities. Also, our year 6 students preparing for high school with
MHS hosting an information evening this week, and some of our students will be
taking part in a High School transition program.
Remember, we have our P&C disco this evening in the school hall from 5-7pm.
Please wear your scariest Halloween costumes. Permission notes and tickets
available at the door. Treats and refreshments will be available to purchase.
LIBRARY NEWS
I am pleased to introduce a new addition to our library, Bookie the book collector,
and he loves to eat books...as some of the students have discovered!
Overdue library book notices were given to students today. We have experienced
a couple of glitches with the new library system. If there is an error with the notice
please write on the slip and return it to Mrs Wright so the files can be updated.
Thank you
