INNOVATION

An intermediary (combined cultures) solution combining the advantages of fixed-film culture (like biofiltration) and suspended growth technology (like activated sludge).

• Meteor™-IFAS is designed for treating carbon and nitrogen in wastewater.

• It is the model based on a biological process with fixed culture on mobile carriers (IFAS = Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge).

• It fits any size of facilities.

• It can be used for the treatment or raw water from urban areas and the pretreatment of industrial water .

5

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

• Treatment of carbon is made through suspended growth (actviated sludge) while the nitrogen treatment is made through attached growth: two different types of biomass (flocculated biomass and attached biomass) coexist within the same reactor.

Meteor™-IFAS IN THE TREATMENT LINES

The configurations are the same as for activated sludge with the exception of sequenced channel that is not compatible with the presence of carriers.

The most widely found layouts are shown below:

ADVANTAGES OF Meteor™-IFAS

•Compact:Volume needs of the structures are considerably reduced compared to

conventional activated sludge.

•Flexibility:This process supports strong load variations particularly in cold zones

(ex.: mountainous zones)

•Environment:An effluent quality that conforms to the strictest regulations on discharge

while controlling costs.

•Easy to operate:– No load loss or washing,– A high level of automation which gives maximum reliability to the system,– Ease of integration within existing stations,– Ideal of upgrades: raise of the quality level of discharge, as well as the load to be

treated.
