A fidget spinner is a toy that is marketed as relieving stress. It consists of a bearing in thecenter of a multi-lobed flat structure made from metal or plastic. The toy has been advertisedas helping people who have trouble with focusing or fidgeting (such as those with ADHD,autism, or anxiety) by acting as a release mechanism for nervous energy or psychologicalstress.
Fidget spinners became popular toys in 2017, although similar devices had already beeninvented in 1993. Often marketed with claims of health benefits, the toy became popularamong schoolchildren. Some schools banned the spinners for being a distraction, while otherschools allowed the toy to be used discreetly.
Why fidget spinner is so trendy?

In some cases, the fidget spinners were reported to assist somechildren with focusing in school. In regards to a broader context of fidget tools in general, the ChicagoTribune reported, "today, it's common to see kids using some kind of fidget or other tool to help themsettle and focus."
