If you pre-signed up for an appointment time at our July Blood Drive you will be called to see if you want to keep that time or change it. You can also sign up online at redcrossblood.org. or if you have ques-tions about donating blood you can call the Donor Health Line at 1-866-236-3276.
On two Sundays in January we will be in the Gathering Space with information and sign-up sheets. If there are any other questions or to make an appointment you may call either Jim or Kay Kinzie at 651-633-1643 or Linda or Carl Schwanbeck at 763-767-7421.
We want to thank you for your willingness to donate life-saving blood !!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! On Saturday 12/16/2017, nine boxes of food were distributed to less fortunate members of Messiah and the surrounding communities. In addition, thirty two fruit baskets were delivered to shut-in members and congregational members who suffered a loss during the past year. My sincere gratitude goes to those volunteers whose names appear below. Welcome to Bill Pieper!
During the last 5 months or so following Pastor Klaus’s departure, we have had several guest preachers help preach about once a month to assist during our Senior Pastor vacancy. While they have each done a fantastic job proclaiming God’s Word, Messiah has been looking to get some more regular/consistent vacancy help. We are excited to announce that following his retirement in November 2017, Pastor Bill Pieper has agreed to help serve Messiah as a part time vacancy pastor starting in January 2018. Pastor Bill will be preaching once or twice a month, and may be helping with other things around church as needed during our Senior Pastor vacancy. We are excited to have him on board, and we look forward to having him join our Messiah family!
Pastor Wilfred “Bill” Pieper has served the Lord of the Church for the past 44 years as a Director of Christian Education and an Ordained Pastor. He is a native of Minnesota having graduated from Concor-dia Academy and Concordia College both in St. Paul, Minnesota. After serving fifteen years as a DCE in congregations in both Kansas and Minnesota he entered Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He graduated with a Master’s in Religion and has served congregations in Hastings, Minnesota and most recently St. John Lutheran Church and School in Elk River, Minnesota having retired after nearly 21 years as Senior Pastor. Pastor Bill is married to his college sweetheart, Nancy, who recently retired as Director/Teacher of
St. John Preschool. They have three children and seven grandchildren. Pastor Bill enjoys family,
meeting people, fishing and gardening.

STEWARDSHIP
Beginning Again
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis1:1). Sometimes it’s
good to get back to the basics. When the whirlwind of holiday events and celebrations is
over, it’s time to gather our wits and prepare for the coming year. Time to get our bear-
ings. Time to think afresh. Time to take stock of the past year, for some remembering its
blessings, for others, sorrowing over its setbacks.
Whether rejoicing or sorrowing, however, God is there with us. He laughs with us in our
times of joy and wipes away our tears of sadness. He is always here. He was here “in the
beginning.” He created it all. When “the earth was formless and empty, and darkness
was over the surface of the deep...the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And
God said, “let there be...And there was…” (Genesis 1:2,3).
All it takes is a word from God’s mouth and there it is. He created it, He owns it, and He
loans it to us for our use. And all the time, He is there with us; never will He leave us
(Hebrews 13:5). This is no time for regrets over the past, for God has forgiven and for-
gotten our sin. There is no cause for worry over what the new year will bring, for God
has already been there.
Each of us can make a new beginning; in fact, each day, each moment can be a new
beginning. God promises to provide for all our needs. Paul wrote, “And my God will
meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus “ (Philippians 4:19).
Believing this promise, we do not need to fear for our futures, financial or otherwise. We
do not need to store up wealth for some calamity. We can afford to be generous givers
because, as believers, we are covered by God’s promise to care for us.
By God’s grace, let us make that new beginning, then, living according to God’s plan for
us and managing the vast resources He has loaned to us to the best of our abilities, hon-
oring Him in all we say, in the way we live, and through our generous offerings as we
work to make His name known.

WOM As we count our blessings this New Year, may
we be inspired to use our blessings to bless
others. We will be meeting at Messiah on
