Messenger The Pacific Hills
We have enjoyed watching the Olympics the past couple weeks. The amazing fetes of athleticism and the human interest stories have been inspiring. While watching the men’s speed skating I was struck by the precision and timing of these events. The difference between the person in first place and the person in 23
rd place was
one second. That’s right—one second. The difference between first and second place can be hundredths of a second. It’s all about the timing. But even the most precise timer or stop watch cannot top God’s timing. His timing is perfect. In our Epistle lesson this week we have a portion of Romans 5 that says, “At just the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” And later, “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” He didn’t wait until we cleaned ourselves up. He didn’t choose a random time and place. In his perfect wisdom God sent his son at the perfect time in the perfect place to save us imperfect people from our sins. He won for us eternity with him forever. And that’s better than any gold medal.

VOLUME 3 NUMBER 8
BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK
Romans 5-1a
“Since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God.”
Today’s altar flowers are given to the glory of God by
Dorothy Storek in thankfulness for all the blessings she has
received.
FOUNDATION GRANT CHALLENGE: The Foundation of
PHLC would like to extend a two-month grant challenge to
the congregation to support St. Paul Lutheran School in
northeast Omaha. St. Paul struggles financially to keep the
doors of the school open, and yet their work is so important
as they share the love of Christ with at risk children and
families. The grant challenge is for $5,000. Anything given
up to that amount will be matched dollar-for-dollar. If the
congregation can raise the full $5,000, the monies will be
matched by the Foundation and will result in a total gift to
St. Paul Lutheran School of $10,000. St. Paul is the only K-
8 church operated school of our North Circuit. Let’s be a
blessing to these children and families. The grant challenge
will end on April 15. Make your check payable to Pacific
Hills Lutheran Church and memo in the offering
envelope “Other” category “St. Paul School”.
Missions and Social Ministry Board will be collecting
diapers and baby items now through March. Please
place items in the narthex bins. Items include: diapers,
clothes, lotion, shampoo, bottles, foods and any other baby
items. Thank you for your generosity.

The CYF Board and the youth will again host the Easter breakfast between services in Acker Hall, 9:15am to 10:15am on Easter morning. Call Sandra Glissmann at 402-571-8407
You are invited to the installation of Rev. Mark Anderson as Associate Pastor at Beautiful Savior, on Sunday, April 8, at 3pm. A reception will follow the worship service to
greet Mark and enjoy Christian fellowship.
Mission and Social Ministry News: On Sunday, February 25, Pastor J. P. Cima will preach and speak during Bible study about his 10 years of service as a missionary in Vietnam. PHLC mission dollars and prayers are supporting Pastor Cima and his family this year as they serve in the mission field.
