MESSAGE FROM THE VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT

Welcome to Victoria, the sporting and major events capital of Australia and home to the 2018 Wiggle

Amy’s Gran Fondo – one of the greatest cycling events in the country.

In a testament to the love of the sport, around 5,000 riders are expected to take to the world famous

Great Ocean Road and the Otway Ranges during the action-packed event.

In addition to the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo, TAC Medio Fondo, TAC Family Fondo and Amy’s Wall, this

year’s line-up will include the Surf Coast Shire Gravel Fondo. Serious riders who prefer gravel to bitumen

also now have a chance at representing Australia with the annual Surf Coast Shire Gravel Fondo

now incorporating the Cyclists Gravel National Championships.

The Victorian Government is proud to be supporting this event through the Regional Events Fund, which is

helping our regions attract and stage major events that create more jobs and grow our visitor economy.

Throughout the year, this magnificent coastal region hosts an exciting calendar of major events including

the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, Festival of Sails and the Rip Curl Pro.

With more local and international visitors travelling to Victoria than ever before, events like this showcase

the best our regions have to offer. From incredible food and wine experiences and cultural events to wild

beaches and stunning wildlife, there’s something for everyone.

I wish all teams and competitors the best of luck for the 2018 Wiggle Amy's Gran Fondo and all visitors an

enjoyable stay in this beautiful part of Victoria.

MESSAGE FROM THE AMY GILLETT FOUNDATION CEO

On behalf of the Amy Gillett Foundation Board and Team, I would like to thank you once again for your support

of Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo and the Amy Gillett Foundation.Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo cycling festival is held in

memory of Australian cycling team member Amy Gillett, who died when hit by a car while training with the

Australia team in Germany in 2005. The Great Ocean Road was one of Amy’s favourite places to ride.

The event caters to cyclists of all abilities and is held on fully closed roads, showcasing the best the Great Ocean

Road and Otway Ranges region has to offer. With extraordinary scenery and a weekend of exciting family-

friendly activities for participants and spectators alike, Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo is not just an event but an

unforgettable experience.

This year we have some exciting changes to the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo cycling festival, including a brand

new Gravel Fondo course starting and finishing close to Lorne. Following the successful introduction of the

Gravel Fondo in 2017, the event now incorporates the Cyclist Gravel National Championships, as well as a

recreational component sponsored by the Surf Coast Shire, which means participants can qualify to represent

Australia! This year the Gravel Fondo will be held on Saturday morning, so you can add to your weekend

activities with some stunning gravel grinding through the Otway Ranges on the Saturday, followed by an

unforgettable road cycling experience on the Sunday.

On Saturday afternoon, Criterium racing kicks off Amy’s Otway Tour as part of the Women’s and Men’s NRS

series, cementing Amy’s Gran Fondo as Australia’s Grandest Fondo. Come and take in the action on the main

street in Lorne, where the elite Women and Men will vie for points on a tough Criterium course incorporating

Amy’s Wall hill climb. Before the racing starts, we will be holding a memorial to remember those who have lost

their lives on our roads, and the NRS cyclists will conduct a neutral commemorative lap of the Criterium

course. All are welcome, so please join us - further details can be found in the program.

The Amy Gillett Foundation exists for one purpose: to make cycling safer in Australia. Your generous fundraising

efforts in this event directly support our work towards a safer cycling environment, including cycling safety

research, advocacy, education and awareness campaigns and training programs – such as the cycling safety

skills clinics conducted in local schools in the lead up to the event, free of charge.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the eighth edition of Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo.
