Carnival is almost here! Carnival will take place on Friday, October 13th from 3 to 6pmat the school field.

Ticket Sales will be this Wednesday, October 11 th and Thursday, October 12 th beforeschool (from 7:45 am – 8:15 am) and after school (from 2:30 pm- 3:00 pm), and beforeschool on Friday, October 13th (from 7:45 am – 8:15 am) by the 5 th grade and Kindiedoors OR Friday during the Carnival. Cash or check only.

A TASTE OF COTTONWOOD at the Carnival - sponsored by theCultural Connections Committee. Come share your love of food and Cottonwood at theCarnival on October 13th from 3-6pm. Cultural Connections will be hosting its 4thannual "Taste of Cottonwood" food tent and we would love everyone to participate! Simplyshare a food item from your favorite country or a family recipe. CALLING ALL KINDIE AND 1 ST GRADERS! IT’S PARTY TIME!!!

Do you have a kindie or 1 st grader? Do they love Halloween? Well if so, good news aswe are hosting two separate costume parties for all Kindergartners and First Graders onOctober 19th. Kindie party will be from 2:45 pm – 4:15 pm and 1st grade party will beheld from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm. Both parties will take place at Orchard Park (behind CCVpool). Crafts, snacks and games will be provided along with “trick or treating”! The cost is$10.00 per person and ALL proceeds go to support Cottonwood Creek Elementary.

We encourage all children to wear their costume (to change into AFTER school). Pleaseprovide a trick or treat bag for your child to collect treats.

HURRICANE HARVEY PROJECT

The Third Grade Destination Imagination team has “adopted” a school in Texas severelyaffected by Hurricane Harvey and are organizing a school-wide drive to collect supplies forthem. See the attached flyer for details and more information. Note the followingclarifications: Kindies - Please bring a stuffed animal or toy small enough to fit in a shoebox. 5th Grade - Please bring a clear or mesh backpack (per the school’s district regulations). TRUNK OR TREAT

The PTO would like to invite all Cottonwood families to a Trunk or Treat on Monday,October 31, 2016 from 5:30-6:30 pm . Have the kiddos dress in costume and trick ortreat in trunks in our school parking lot before heading out for more trick or treating! Thisis a FREE event.

Calling all trunks! In order for this event to be a success, we need trunks. Decorate yourtrunk to a theme or just bring your car and hand out candy. See the attached flyer formore information!

MEET OUR AMAZING TEACHER ASSISTANTS!!!

Did you know that a majority of the PTO funds raised each year go to pay for the salariesof our amazing Teacher Assistants and Para-Professionals? Without the generosity ofyou – our Cottonwood community – these phenomenal individuals would not be atCottonwood helping and enriching our students' education, so thank you for yourcontributions and donations all year long!

This month we would like to introduce you to Katie Hooper!

Hello! I am Katie Hooper. Most of the Cottonwood Creek community members haveformally known me as “Miss K”. This last summer I got married. I have the pleasure ofbeing a Teacher Assistant (TA) at Cottonwood Creek Elementary School. I have workedwith our Cougar family for three years and primarily support Kindergarten teachers andstudents. Additionally, I am the Read Act tutor for our school and a crossing guard at ourcrosswalks in the mornings and afternoons. If you see me around, please feel free tocome say hello! I love getting to know everyone that is a part of our AMAZING school!

BOX TOPS COLLECTION AND CONTEST

Cottonwood's first Box Top contest of the year is well underway! To achieve our goal of$1800 we ask for you to keep up the fantastic work by continuing to choose Box Topparticipating products, clipping those coupons and sending them into school. Send themin just as they are - trimming isn't necessary. The class that turns in the most Box Topsbetween now and FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20 will win a themed party, courtesy of the PTO. Winners of last year's fall Box Top contest were treated to a chocolate fountain with fivedifferent types of goodies and spring's lucky winners enjoyed a "make your own slime"party!

Box Tops should be sent to school in a Ziploc or similar type baggie with both your child'sname and your teacher's name. Each class has their own special Box Tops collectionenvelope. In order to ensure box tops are included in the correct classroom's total we askthat you refrain from sending them to the office.

COTTONWOOD SPIRIT DAYS!

This year Cottonwood's Student Council, led by Ms. Wehrle and Ms. Derbish, are planningsome super fun spirit days. Here's what in store for October:

October 13, 2017 - Cottonwood Spirit Wear - wear your blue and green or any Cougarclothes and sprit wear! Sutdents can show off their Cougar Pride at the Carnival afterschool.

October 31, 2017 - Storybook Character Day - this day students are invited to celebratea book by wearing a costume of a favorite storybook character. The kids have to eitherbring in the book or be able to say what book their character came from.

Want a break from cooking? PAPA JOHN's pizza is supporting Cottonwood Creek onTuesday, October 31st. Treat yourself to a night off of cooking while helping our school.Orders must be placed in advance with our school order form (available soon!). Pizzas willbe available for express pick-up at the Cottonwood "kiss-and-go" lane on Tuesdayevening (10/31) from 4:30-5pm. No need to get out of your car.
