Message from the Principal

Hello Aloha Warrior Families,

It is almost impossible to believe we are in May and that the Class of 2016 will graduate in a little over one month. When I started at AHS in November, I could not anticipate that my time here would

extend through the end of the year. Ken Yarnell continues to be on leave to be the care giver for his wife following her bone marrow transplant in December. He is planning to participate in graduation activities and I know our graduates and parents will be thrilled to have him preside over those events.

You may have followed the boundary change process in which the Beaverton School District has been engaged for several months. The superintendent has made a final decision on the high school boundary adjustments and the student transition process. That information can be found at https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/depts/facil it ies/boundary/Documents/Supt_HS_Boundary_Decision.pdf

In the meantime, Aloha High School is thriving. Students tackled the Smarter Balanced Assessments and the ACT/Aspire exams with the grit and resilience necessary to demonstrate what they know and can do. Students and teachers are all working hard to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and achievement. The Aloha parents and community are strong in supporting successful outcomes for the students and the school. As the school moves into the 2016-17 school year, exciting opportunities for students will continue to reveal themselves—watch for news of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) implementation, dual credit courses, Career/Technical Education (CTE) courses, and of course the excellent array of Advanced Placement (AP) courses that are offered at Aloha.

My best wishes to you for having a great spring. Thanks for all you contribute as parents and members of this wonderful community.

Thankful to be a Warrior!

Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to our Athletes of the Month. Minjin Enkhjargal and Evan Klenin from the tennis team.

Minjin is a true student athlete balancing two sports, swimming and tennis, an internship and classwork, while maintaining an above average GPA. Minjin is a four year member of the tennis team and team captain. Last year she was our number one singles player and this year is on our number one doubles team. She is a steady force on and off the court for her teammates. As a player she is the first to volunteer to help in any and every capacity when setting up the courts for practice or matches.

Evan is a senior leader of the tennis team. He a team captain and displays all the characteristics of a great team player. His record in March is 4 wins and 0 loses. He plays our #3 singles position and # 1 doubles spot.

He is a 4.0 student who volunteers his time outside of tennis and school to various organizations. He tutors other students, and is always looking to help in any way without being asked. He has matured on the tennis court to be a great competitor and inspires others to do the same. He hustles and hits and never quits.
